Oblivion

It was about 10 days ago I was alerted to a string of sightings of lights in the sky around Warsaw quickly followed by reports of locals drained of blood in nearby nightclubs. My team and I spent three days searching the area and interviewing the locals about their sightings. Following a tip from the local Policja we met with a local farmer produced a piece of strange metal that he had recovered from a crater in his field. After further analysis we determined that the crater was at least a week old and contained traces of alien dna.   We were now convinced that we were on the tail of a Pleidian, sadly the human looking kind. From the coroners reports we were able to determine that the attacks seem to occur once every couple of days and that eye witnesses always reported seeing a well dressed man and woman leaving the club with the victim, seemingly intoxicated. Understanding the Pleidian's desire to lay low but still remain close to a source of sustenance we established that their most likely target would be the nightclubs along the Vistula River.   I split my team into two pairs with Anna and Sergey in team one taking the Mirow district and myself and Ivan taking the Powisle neighbourhood. After a few fruitless nights we hit the jackpot, team one managed to get a sight of a blonde haired man and redheaded woman escorting a very drunk looking brunette woman from the bar following on a hunch they tracked the three of them along Mazowiecka that as I understand it is when all hell broke loose.   While I wasn't around for the start of the firefight I understand from Sergey that as they were following the man and two women a huge werewolf lunged from a nearby alleyway and missing the redheaded woman with its ambush it gored the brunette and slashed the blonde man. It was at this point it seems that the aliens noticed our team as well and opened fire with energy weapons on both us and the werewolf. By the time Ivan and I arrived on the scene a few minutes later three buildings were on fire and at least fourteen people were dead with twitch that many injured including the Pleidians, their victim and Anna.   The werewolf fled along with an unknown person, we strongly suspect this was the handler for the werewolf, reinforcing our suspicion that this was a Fenris operation gone wrong. We have noted an increase in their activity and I would request that additional resources and personnel be assigned to our region to cover this.   Fortunately our contacts in the Policja and local media have been able to keep a lid on the actual events and have passed it off as a previously undiscovered WW2 bomb, but it was a close run thing and I recommend we keep an eye on local news outlets for the foreseeable future and prepare counter factuals to discredit any leaks.

Structure

While IFO (Investigation and Field Operations) agents deal directly with supernatural and paranormal threats on a regular basis, most agents do not and are in fact particularly engrossed with their own agendas and priorities. It becomes easy for each group to categorize everyone into an “us” and “them.” This is particularly pronounced in Oblivion, when many operatives are restricted to facilities and have little interpersonal contact on a daily basis outside of emails and instant messages. It bears noting, however, that most agents working desk jobs usually started working in the field before moving on to the quiet, but no less important, branch office positions.

History

The long history of Oblivion (before its most recent iteration) and its war with Pandora predates most modern nations and governments on the planet, but little is generally known about its past agents, except for fleeting glimpses and rumors of their existence. Agents operating under the name of Oblivion are said to have been involved in the burning of the Library of Alexandria and the fall of Rome, operating through the Cold War and into the modern era, and have been involved in dealing with a multitude of global threats unseen by the mainstream media.   In its current incarnation Oblivion is an outgrowth of Project Blue Book, funded by a joint NATO account funneled through a number of black sites the organisation is well hidden from the public eye thought the reach and ability of Oblivion is rarely challenged by those who have encountered it before. Since its rebirth, Oblivion has grown into a massive, world-spanning organization, comprised chiefly of misfits and malcontents from all walks and ways of life. Certain unofficial channels have been opened so Oblivion is kept abreast of potential candidates from both domestic and international militaries, police forces, and other investigative organizations. Oblivion cannot afford to be overly selective, as the dark war is hard, and sometimes attrition rates are alarmingly high, despite the training and equipment at its disposal. Agents are advised to actively keep an eye out for potential recruits at all times.   Since 9/11, Oblivion has expanded its role to deal with normal as well as supernatural and paranormal threats. Its information networks and diversity of staff make it an invaluable resource in such matters.
