Violante Chameleon SS (Car)
General Info
Designed by the brilliant Automotive Engineer/Mage, Matteo Violante, this magical construct is the perfect blend of esoteric theory and engineering. Many car manufacturers of the past and present have made bold claims about capturing the essence of driving, but none can compare to Matteo Violante's masterwork with the Chameleon SS.
Violante Automotive made only 13 of these masterpieces; 11 of the base model and 2 of the SS model. The base model came in a beautiful titanium silver color while the more rare SS model had two unique colors; plum and black. The world's most luxurious materials and cutting edge technology were infused into every inch of the Chameleon, cementing it as the pinnacle of art and engineering for its time. This was the definitive luxury touring supercar that unquestionably spared no expense.
What made the SS model package so covetable compared to the base model are the magical upgrades Violante managed to pack into it, chief among them being limited sentience. The car has an unknown form of self-awareness and two-way empathy between itself and the owner that was never duplicated again after the death of Matteo Violante.
Powers & Effects
With a Violante Chameleon, you are never truly lost. It knows where you want to go the instant you think it, and on many occasions, it knows you want to turn left moments before you decide to do so. It's a "Magical GPS" system light years ahead of modern cars. The other significant features are as follows. The Chameleon can morph into any other vehicle from any automotive era just by parking next to it for a minute or two. It is impervious to damage from any mundane source besides the most massive military ordinance (tanks, fighter jets, etc.). The passengers are also immune to any outside environmental effects (extreme heat/cold, water, vacuum) while the doors are sealed. At first glance, the Chameleon doesn't seem to have any trunk space at all, but it is capable of storing the same amount of cargo as a modern SUV. If the passengers are unresponsive for a length of time longer than 10 minutes (unconscious, injured, etc.), the Chameleon will return home no matter what realm that may be in (material, astral, or pocket dimension).
The Chameleon communicates to the owner/driver by emitting intense feelings and various non-verbal expressions. Examples include, but are not limited to, horn beeping, locking the doors, refusing to start, blasting the sound system, and hard braking every 5 feet. If the car doesn't like something, it's going to let you know one way or another.
Because of the empathic bond between car and driver, the SS model will pick up personality traits from the owner or other longtime users. Magnus Covington's Plum Chameleon shares his good nature and love of practical jokes while Artur Krauss ' Black Chameleon shares his contempt and spitefulness. After many decades, the two cars couldn't be any more different from each other. This effect seems to be a one-way influence of the owner on the vehicle and not the other way around.
A Violante Chameleon is more like having a two-ton, moody pet than owning a car. Magnus Covington
Josephine (Camaleonte di Prugne SS)
Josephine is the name given to Magnus Covington's Violante Camaleonte di Prugne SS. She was named after the famous singer, Josephine Baker who Magnus was rumored to have been in a torrid affair with some time in the early 1930s. Josephine is hugely protective of Magnus. This behavior at times falls just short of raging jealousy and has occasionally led to some major headaches for Magnus. Drivers sense a great sense of pride and peacefulness radiating from behind the wheel of Josephine. In the case of this particular Chameleon, taking a leisurely drive to clear your mind does work wonders for the soul. While Josephine can mimic almost any car, her preferred form is her original body style, color, and configuration with a few additional accouterments such as a modern sound system, USB ports, and AC. She has been known to mimic cars from the Art Deco period and a few other random vehicles per her prerogative. Here is an abridged list.
Josephine's Favorite forms
It should be noted that passengers in this car have no control over the sound system. Josephine NEVER releases control of the music system to anyone. Polite requests for no music, a change in volume, or a new playlist are usually acceptable and complied with but are in no way guaranteed. Josephine's musical tastes are wide and varied as her moods. Ramiel (Camaleonte Nero)
Ramiel is the name given to Artur Krauss' Violante Camaleonte Nero SS. Because Artur has been the only owner/driver of this car since it rolled off the assembly line, his personality is just as sick and twisted as his owner. The vehicle has been in more "accidents" with pedestrians than any other car in history. At this point, Artur is most likely the only person capable of driving him without incident. This is most likely out of fear than a genuine willingness to comply with a human owner. The car radiates hate and contempt that hits the more spiritually or magically sensitive in the face like a sledgehammer. Artur never locks Ramiel because he simply feels there is no need to protect it. God help the unfortunate soul who decides to steal this car. Although Ramiel and Josephine technically share the same features, Ramiel rarely uses his mimic ability. As Artur is fond of saying, "Why tamper with perfection?"
