Oblitus Magia

A hidden magical world, forced into secrecy from the human empire.   Since the beginning of time, mages have been around on the Earth. They dominated it, explored it, enhanced and nurtured it. Living in peace with everything that lived on the planet and shared the land with them. Even when humans came along, boring and normal creatures, like a rat to the mythical mages. Completely irrelevant, but still the magical beings were peaceful, extending an olive branch to their lesser cousin species.   Until about 1370. That year, the humans decided they’d had enough of the sorcery of the mages. They were terrified by all the things this species could do, all the power they held over the planet. And they were jealous of this power, with a thirst to be the most important and superior creatures on the planet. In a huge war, humans decided to fight our mages, tired of being inferior, even if the mages never acted arrogant, controlling, or domineering.   The mages had a few options- fight back and make an entire species go extinct (an unforgivable abomination for the mages), or go extinct themselves.   Or go into hiding forever. Which is what they chose.   And to this day, they still are.
