Elven Town Guard

Structure
Each town's guardsmen are overseen by a Sergeant of the Guard. Each officer employs a small staff to keep records and carry communications to superiors in a regional garrison, which is overseen by an executive officer and their staff. These regional garrisons may be located in a small fort between scattered villages or in a larger town and report back to the Royal Guard liaison in Fairfalls. The Town Guard is directly connected to the Royal Guard, having been founded at the same time and for parallel reasons. Thus, they answer to the High Council in the same capacity and do so through the same office.
Culture
Guards tend to belong to the community they patrol and this makes each town's guards unique to that town's culture. Service in the town guard is often looked upon as a stepping stone to become an officer in the army. Alternately, many army veterans return to serving in a town's guard, either as a Sergeant of the Guard or on an officer's staff.
Public Agenda
The primary purpose is to keep order and provide for the general protection and well being of the community. They serve as a town's security and as a regional militia, as well as first responders in emergency situations.
Assets
A squad, generally fifteen guardsmen total, is present in most Elven towns. As many as five squads may be found in towns closer to the border with the Rarus Plains. There are dozens of regional garrisons throughout the Elven Kingdom. The guards have standard uniforms and high quality equipment that is often equivalent to that of the army. They are funded by the High Council directly.
