Miradon

The candle flickered in the lantern's embrace, Cold air biting at the senses of the one who lit it. Steamy breath is blown into exposed hands before gloves find themselves enshrouding chilled fingers. Warm light blooms lantern by lantern as others light their vessels. "On the darkest night of the year, we lend our light to the eight to give thanks, to remind, and to bolster. With humble words given ten thousand lanterns flew into the skies like fireflies. Ushering in the new season.   

  Miradon is a celebration of one of the most beautiful stars that are only visible for eight days for every eight years. Many of the realms of Oaken'Ash culturally hold the star known as Mira in different ways and celebrate it in different ways. But all respect the celestial body and pay homage in different ways.   

  Mira, The Shy Star. Mira is known as the shy star, while it is incredibly beautiful it is only visible for eight days every eight years. When it reveals itself it is the brightest star in the night sky and on every day it changes colour.  

  Rhen'Moriloth. The realm of Rhen'Moriloth finds that the time of Miradon is a time of blessed mining and crafting. All of the industry booms during these times as they believe Mira looks on all those who have a true passion for their work favorably. Miners dig deeper and are said to find more favourable veins, anything mined on Miradon is said to be blessed by Mira and has more lustre than if it had been mined not within Miradon. Artisans allow their works not crafted during Miradon to bathe in the starlight. New works are crafted during Miradon are said to be more beautiful than others that have not. Some Artisans even go as far as only working during the night as well as only crafting eight pieces one during each night of Miradon, finishing the work insight of Miradon on the eighth and final night.  

  Thaiten. The realm of Thaiten believes that Mira is not in fact shy but a monarch of the night sky. She only graces all during Miradon to show her power and to see whom she should favour from her deep void. She wants to see who is the most powerful and cunning of her subjects of the mortal realm and all should stand as equal. During the time of Miradon slave to Emporer stand as equals. If you wish to better yourself after Miradon you may now attempt to do so, those in power must comply or fear the wrath of the eight. If you slay someone who once held dominion over you during Miradon, you take up their mind so long as you bear their skull.  

  Lokara N'durien Miradon is a cause for celebration as it also marks the end of Winter and the start of Spring. All revel in eight-day festivals. During these times the stores are fed on heavily and many drink the cold away. During these festivals, many often wed or conceive for good luck. Most notable of the festivities is the Kingdom Games where all are welcome to compete to probe themselves champions of the realms, winning medals, wealth and land.  

  Acrela. All ships that dwell in Acrela know that there is no battles during Moridin, Many crews use this time to parlay, drink, declare alliances or settle scores. Of course this is also a time of celebration, where many become marry and laugh, sharing stories with one another.  

  Nemthyr. The wild folk celebrate Miradon as a time of migration or great change. Many will give their homes back to the great forest and help it transition back to its natural state. After which their tribes will migrate for eight days and on the eighth day they will settle at the new location. The many leaders of the wild folk will also use this time to confer and discuss matters of therm respective tribes.
