Inkletter

There exists a special insect that is found in the fey wilds or areas that are close to the feywild. Though native to the plane of the fey there sometimes are cracks in the fabric of the prime material plane that these small mosquito-like creatures can squeeze through. They are often mistaken for stirges though they couldn't be more different.

Namesake. Inkletters are known as such due to their innate ability to deliver ink into form realized. While a paintbrush, quill, pen or pencil generally writes on the surface of things, this hand-sized insect instead writes inside the surface. It is also known to be able to extract ink, blood, other pigments, or particles.

Applications. An Inkletter's applications are only limited by the imagination and ingenuity of the artisan that wields it. Many scribes, enchanters, smiths, tinkerers, and more use this rare creature in some fashion in their trade. Though it is known more commonly for its uses in tattoo artistry. Tattoo artists with the use of Inkletters have been able to tattoo magic tattoos and it has been rumored that the famous song singer tattoos are inked by inkletters.

Magic Eater. Inkletters are infamous for being attracted to magic. This is because they are a part of a group of creatures who eat magic. As such they have been known to make spell casters unable to cast magic or magic items become inert. For this reason, their use is highly controlled by the merchant and magic guilds as if an outbreak of these or other creatures like it would spell disaster for the magical world and the economy it supplies. An inquire was made when the spell plague was connected to such creatures however results were inconclusive.
