Emergencies and Rescue

The town was ablaze, smoke plumed into and choked the air. Cries were carried on the black winds. Charging into danger the clerics, fighters, paladins, wizards and more to try and rescue the devastation that was being wrought.   

  Rescue is something that gets looked over quite a lot in the world of Oaken'Ash due to the many capable people that walk through its civil veins. But what happens when those people are unable to attend to emergencies. Emergency rescue is something all settlements from small villages to grand cities should have considered.  

  Villages. Within many of the smaller settlements, the village will arrange contingency plans for when emergencies or rescue is required. In times of emergency, a reeve will enforce protection with their small gathering of soldiers or a local militia can be formed to see to the defence of the settlement. For fires, they will have stored water, for attacks they will have places to hide prepared for medical emergencies they will have stores of medicine both magical or otherwise. This, of course, is nowhere near as successful as the larger settlements but it is the price to pay for being underdeveloped. As for rescue or problems that are not so prevalent, the village will send for help from a local temple or guild to aid them in their woe.   

  Town. The larger settlements have more protection in the way of the overseer of the settlement having a sizable army of professional soldiers who are expected to see to emergency to protect the town. The town also has several temples, organizations and guilds that have vested interest in the protection of the settlement. Upon this finding, someone to rescue wouldn't be difficult especially since adventurers and mercenaries find themselves within the bounds of the township and paid work is rarely left on the table.  

  Cities. Cities are the most well-protected of any civil hub. Within their body, they boast a standing force of professional soldiers, guards, and town watch. A multitude of temples, guilds and other organizations and many mercenaries and adventures.
