Circuitation of Energy

The Lost Divinity

The circuitation of magical energy is a theorised technology possessed by the Old Empire of Arkadhe in the First Era, lost with the rise of the demon king and the fall of the Empire during the second era.   Archaeological evidence leaves no doubt about the existence of this technology: golems, gates, machines apparently impossible to power with known means. The Luminescent Orb is a working example of circuitation, according to most scholars.

Utility

The lack of a proper circuitation technology keeps in a halt many types of research.   To power a magical machine, it is necessary to make magical energy circuit inside it. Until now, and for many years to come, there is the need for a specialised mage using their own energy to make things work. This manual implementation of machines has been fully developed and enhanced with gems and catalysers, to ensure a single mage can handle the work for a while. Nevertheless, many ideas require so much energy that a single mage, or even a small group of them, could never hope to provide: one of these is a flying ship, essential to annex the archipelago to the Empire, overwhelming the Cajenian League fleet.   The circuitation of energy is the technology enabling autonomous energy circulation in a machine. It requires seals and catalysers, but the exact working is still unknown.   Many scholars think this is the biggest breakthrough a civilization can achieve: it unlocks countless possibilities.   For instance, with circuitation is possible to build a power plant in a city to make illumination: streets could be lighted at night by magical lanterns and torches connected to it. The power plant could get energy by gem distillation and recycling seals, technologies already rediscovered, but when more appliances will be built and connected to the plant, a new way of getting energy will be necessary.
