Xohura

Geography

The ancestal homeland of the tepetlactl species, Xohura is a northern continent located between Ophoné and Qevrun
A continent of opposites, the eastern half is defined by its mountainous region and tropical and temperate rainforests, while the west is wide plains, open grasslands and deciduous forests giving way to tunda in the north. This broad swath of fertile land with an agreeable climate has given rise to a cosmopolitan population comprising all known sapients in relatively equal proportion.

Natural Resources

The mountains contain large and productive deposits of silica, quarzt and aluminosilicates, which have been used to create faience and glassware since the early years of fourth age. In 5.826, Xochitl Meznya Xiopa was able to isolate aluminium in their laboratory in Tahuitlan. After being rejected by the Chiaptlan government, they sold this discovery to the Ico state minerals department, who offered a bounty on methods that would allow industrial-scale refinement of the metal. While no longer the only exporter of refined aluminium, Ico remains the largest.   A temperate climate, good rainfall, and relatively flat landscape enabled the development of agriculture with a concentraion on the farming of arable land. South Venetsia and the Laliria-Maresia region grow large quantities of produce for export.

History

Only the east of the region was populated before the fourth age, with the difficuties inherent in crossing the tlutl-nisyl-iz range and the then-indifference of the tepetlactl towards outsiders, greatly hindering further exploration by the first people.   Since the fourth age, Ljudoy have migrated eastwards from north Qevrun settling in the foothills of the tlutl-nisyl-iz and creating routes for other sapients to settle the western plains. These settlements have given rise to the heavy industry that the region is now famous for, most notably the Torgerojas Steamworks.

Tourism

The gardens and glasshouses of Choriris and Ayalaria attract botanists and horticulturalists year-round, and the mountains of Textlan and Uazatco are popular destinations for climbers.   Yunlilcalo in Laliria is known as 'the painted city' for its colourful buildings, and main streets paved with mosaics. It is a centre of visual arts and the seat of the Vaplorni Bomed folk art movement.   Warmed by the gulf current, Muquenas in Aques has a health resort renowned for its healing springs.
