Elephant Foot Mountain

The Mythical Center of the World.

Long ago, Nuome was found by the Gods in the vastness of the universe. It was a barren and lonely planet, so the Gods decided to make it home. In the very center of a vast square continent was a Crater in the shape of an elephant's foot. The crater was filled with water and had an island in the center of it, on which there grew The One Tree. From this Tree flowed all the water and power of the Great Continent.

The Earth mother, Ayleen, came down to this place and made her base if operations. The Earth Mother populated the Great Continent with trees and birds, crops and deer, all the living things of Nuome. The Continent soon became lush and green. The Gods made their homes upon the Continent and there was great happiness for a while.

But, changes soon began to occur, evil in the west and chaos in the south. Plants began to twist and reach, poison and suffocate. Beasts were twisted by the desires of the Evil Ones. The Gods began to war amongst each other.   Ayleen became more and more angry that her children, the living things of Nuome, were being corrupted and destroyed. And so it was that Ayleen ignited the Great Cataclysm, the great sundering of the continent. The lands were thrown hither and yon by the explosion of the Continent. The Ley Circles were disrupted and the Ley lines were destroyed.   It is said that Elephant Foot Mountain survived the Cataclysm and lies in the center of Nuome, hidden in mists, still a place of great power and still home to Ayleen, The Earth Mother. Some have sought this place and never returned. There are whispers among the druids that messengers come to them with instructions from Ayleen herself. The Mountain is a place of great mystery and myth from which all of Nuome is given life.
