January 2022 - World Merge in Numidius | World Anvil

January 2022 - World Merge

(late) happy new year!

This one is quite a long read, but it's a new year, with 2 new groups. Also, there is a lot that is about to change around here. This update should also serve as somewhat of a "roadmap" so everyone following can have a better understanding on what's planed and how things are going to work.

So what's up?

We've been hard at work. Mostly, if not entirely, on our own personal matters. Work and school have taken the front stage since the last time we've pushed an update. I missed the last World Ember completely, and I'm still not entirely sure how far Rttuo pursued his own goals, or even if he did. With that said, he did put up a surprising number of new articles. Most of them will be published in the coming days.

Roadmap & World Merge Total Eclipse*

Roadmap

The Numidius has no clear goal, purpose, or agenda. Instead, it is comprised from hundreds of little stories and characters. This was, and hopefully always will be the case. For the sake of my mental health, I've put together a small list of what I'm personally going to focus on in the following months:

  • January

  •
  • February

    • Player Guide Part 1 & 2: Races & Classes.
    • Adding a simple overview of economies, military presence and conflicts to each region and nation.
    • Several updates to the deities category (somewhat dependent on results of January's World Merge, rttuo is already working on it).
  •
  • March

    • Player Guide Parts 1 & 2: Sub-Races & Sub-Classes
    • Player Guide Part 3: Rules & Mechanics
    • 2nd Eclipse World Merge #2
  •
  • April

    • Updated political maps and relations.
    • ATLAS Version 0.99 (Finally)
  •
  • May

  • June

    • Player Guide Part 4: Prestige Classes & Other Homebrews
    • Codex & Compendium rework
  • July

    • Finishing the new and improved Player Guide & Compendium.
    • 4th Eclipse World Merge #4
  • August

    • Personal hiatus.
    • CSS facelift.
  • September

World Merges Total Eclipse

At first we updated the world on a weekly basis, but it's simply impossible with the current circumstances. So instead, we have opted to publish big, bi-monthly updates. We are going to call them World Merges Total Eclipses, if you have a better name, let us know. Thanks for the naming convention, .   These updates will merge the changes that happened around the various game tables and within the discord chat rooms (read note on groups below) into the wiki, unifying their actions into a single stream and resolving any conflicts they might have with existing articles and rules. An article similar to this one will be published alongside each merge, to maintain some information on the things that were added, changed or updated.   As we move forward, the changes are only going to get bigger. Even the 2-months cycle will get cumbersome at some point. Once we reach the fifth World Merge they will become quarterly. After that, who knows? We'll probably tweak it as we go.   Smaller articles, minor homebrews and other stuff will still be published as usual between these big updates, but they will be subjected to (many) changes until the next world merge. You can view these articles by signing up as a "Scribe"(details below).

The current merge will be completed by the end of January and will contain the following:

  • 15+ new characters.
  • 2 new timelines.
  • 5 organizations.
  • 2 capital cities.
  • 100+ little updates to various existing articles.

The next Merge is planned to start around early March.

The article won the Best Settlement Of 2021 award. It's a great honor, so thank you if you were among the voters, or if you simply tagged along regardless. This nomination, however, has set a very real bar on how other, *much* more important settlements should look and feel. We can't promise we will provide another gem quite like it, but we will certainly try.

Scribes

When I initially set up the group it was simply to see if anyone would be more interested in the lore of the world itself. Some have taken the role but communicating through WA is still not very intuitive. I want to better understand what you want and hope to see or do. I'm afraid there's not much to the role without the proper Discord channels. So please, join us in by going to https://discord.gg/BgWS4rPhhq and say hi. Things I have in mind are: Access to draft articles and publications before the World Merges, game sessions summaries, etc.

New Groups

The physical table is having some troubles at the moment. Thankfully, it's only due to happy occurrences and people moving up in life. Instead of having one online group and one physical group, we now have two (almost) brand new online-only groups. Appropriate character pages will be published in the coming days. As much as I like them, It is unlikely that we will continue to run physical meetings in the foreseeable future.
