Attalah Alopecia

Four hundred years ago, affluent, renowned mycologist Aaqil el-Attalah was probing through the Xarnon Rainforest when he espied a mushroom growing on the side of a tree that had not been indexed yet. What made this mushroom noteworthy was that its gills glowed neon blue. The elf named it the Blalath Attalah(Attalah Mushroom) and took a sample back to his lab for analysis. After inspection, they realized that the plant secretes an ice blue sap. This sap can be ingested and was found to be a miracle cure for the Ojai Shakes, common in the Xarnon.   Aaqil, a generous soul, began a free treatment for anyone suspected of having the Ojai Shakes, and the results were outstanding. Not a single patient had an Ojai attack. Aaqil commenced a mass immunization, but before he had treated a single person, one of his earlier patients came back to report a problem. Her hair was starting to fall out, and the follicles were beginning to glow light blue. Aaqil immediately shut down the mass vaccination, but he feared that he may have created a new virus.   Aaqil found twenty willing volunteers that had already taken his treatment and put them under observation. Nineteen of them ended up bald and with bright blue hair lodes. The time it took for the patients to lose their hair ranged from 3 months to 2 years, but all but one inevitably experienced this odd Alopecia.   The sole test subject unaffected was a healthy, youthful halfing female named Hilora Humblewater. After must testing, it was concluded that halflings have a slight resistance against the Alopecia. The only other halfing in the study took a lot longer than the rest of the recipients to begin losing hair. Aaqil concluded that this treatment should still be produced, however only given to patients who are suspected of having Ojai Shakes. As far as he could tell, the only adverse side effect is the hair loss, while the Ojai Shakes are often fatal. The answer was overt.
