The god's eye

About it

The god's eye is the mythical forest that exists in the very center of Nowhere Land, in the very center of the land of the dead. In it are trees the color of grey rotting ash, indigo leaves that shimmer darkness, and these are later to be found in the story to grow from the dying bodies, dreams, and wishes of people and children alike. No one knows when the first tree was birthed, or how old the place is. All people know is that the forest grows with time, more trees growing, and more of the dead forgotten, and truly erased from the world. In it different characters stay, all sorts of creatures lurk, while the Beast and his crows watch and laugh at the petty quarrels of both the living and the dead. It is supposedly the creator's mind and eye, watching over the dealings of people and animals, and all his creations. It got its name from the fact that looking high up overhead, it looks like an eye. The people who take the form of trees, and can sometimes speak to a wanderer in their minds, but often times it does nothing but add to the madness.

What stays, what stands, what lurks in the god's eye.

The Beast   This is the main antagonist of the story, though not seemingly in the first parts. This is the anthropomorphic personification of all the weaknesses of humanity, and it feeds on it, anxiety and distress. All who stay in the god's eye for too long eventually go mad under his influence, hearing unknown and known voices alike, and become another tree in the ever-growing forest. No one knows much about it, but it is still feared as an urban legend and is the reason very few even attempts to enter the god's eye. When he appears, he is a scorched shadow who envelopes the darkness of the forest and feeds on it. He has eyes the look of hollow stars, empty and dark, yet it shimmers brighter than the sun. He has no definite shape, it may appear a humanoid figure to someone, a shadowed antlered man to another, and a beast to an unfortunate dead man. The forest is enveloped in the darkness of fog and mist, and he has access to every point of it, moving his eyes, condensing into a figure, or spreading out to the darkness, he holds power in it though he cannot go out of it. His crows can do that for him.   The Crows   These are his alien-like birds who can tear out all of reality with their talons and beaks. They are blacker than coal, blacker than a shadow, dark as dust, darker than jet. They have burning green eyes that burn in their casings like an ember in a raging hot furnace. They appear to all speak in unison, and possess a hive mind of their own, all infinite and many but still one. Their feathers hold frozen flames of scarlet that gleam in it. They are also his messengers and spies and can be found hiding everywhere in Nowhere Land. All the crows have three eyes, all for the Beast to see through and possess.   The Stone heart trees   These are the trees and vegetation that take up the majority of the forest. They are previous dwellers of the god's eye and have gone mad from the Beast's influence. The wood of the trunk is ashen and grey, soulless and lifeless, their leaves are purple and indigo and black all at once, shifting in mist. If you were to cut through it, you'd find a dead rotting corpse of one of the dead from the past having gone mad and added to the forest.
