The Burning Chamber

The Burning Chamber is located in the Kingdom of Dryveinia.   The Kingdom of Dryveinia is one of the oldest kingdoms around today, claiming to be founded before the extinction of dragons; however this claim is often disputed.   The kingdom is one of the hottest lands in Azenoth and is sometimes known as the Sun Kingdom, helped by the fact that a bright red sun is emblazoned on their banners.   The Burning Chamber is essentially a very hot private bath house, reserved for the ruling class but large enough for 10 guests to comfortably relax in the chamber. The main point of difference this chamber has to other bath houses is the extremely hot water in the baths.   Rulers would often bathe in the waters to show their fortitude and ability to stand the heat; the kingdom after-all having a very hot climate. Rulers who could not stand the heat have often had a shaky rule, and heirs that cannot stand the heat have sometimes been passed over for a younger sibling/family member low in the line of succession.   The Burning Chamber was initially built to utilise the hot springs below the castle in Dusc. Over the years, through a combination of reduced heat from the springs and various rulers, the Burning Chamber has been adapted so it's heated by the sun's rays. This was the natural solution since the capitol receives so much sunlight and the days are so long.

Purpose / Function

Personal hygiene and a status symbol

Design

There is one main rectangular room with a central bath. The roof is held up by pillars located at each corner of the bath, and a large sun-shaped window sits directly above the centre of the bath, providing the main source of illumination and adding a bit more heat around midday.   A smaller, private chamber is located off of one end of the main bath room. This is the ruling family's private chamber, often only used by the male members of the family. This room is more dimly lit than the main chamber and is often hotter. Partially because it is requested, and partially because it is easier to keep a smaller bath hotter.

Sensory & Appearance

The rooms are all very humid from all of the steaming water.   The main chamber is sunlit during the day and then candlelit at night.   the private chamber is more dimly lit, and the only natural light shines through a red stained-glass window depicting the kingdoms sun emblazoned standard.

Environmental Effects
The temperature and humidity can sometimes get so intense that it is hard to breath and see through the steam in the room.
