The Ziggurat of Coatépec
As the grand ziggurat of the North, the Ziggurat of Coatépec is the heart of Tlācah society.
Purpose / Function
The ziggurat serves many functions, its primary role is as the religious center, where human sacrifice (and renewal) take place. However, many, if not all of city-state functions take place within its ornamental walls. Of note, it is the preeminent location in the North for both study of astronomy and medical sciences.
The following list of functions the ziggurat provides should not be considered exhaustive.

Architecture
Stone build with stucco exterior. As gold became more and more available in the North due to the gold boom, it was used more liberally in decoration. Thus, temples of high importance such as the Ziggurat of Coatépec have a much higher percentage of golden ornamentation than is typical for their age.
History
Unlike most cultures of Noumentas, the Tlācah continued to practice human sacrifice well into the modern era. Rather than eliminating the practice altogether, they incorporated renewal (revival) techniques into their tradition. This led to many further advances in revival limits after clinical death, both in terms of time since death and the state of the body being recovered. These practices have led to the Ziggurat of Coatépec having the most breakthroughs of any medical research institution in Noumentas, and the best revival ratio since recording began.
