Bisorberus

Basic Information

Anatomy

The name is quite literal, as a bisorberus is a bison with three heads, and is twice the size of a regular bison, and have a hump on their back, giving the resemblance of a mammoth.

Biological Traits

A bisorberus can't thrive in a hot, or muggy environment, and are prone to developing illness' in such conditions, some of which can significantly weaken their immune system. Despite this they can live for a long time, as they have three sets of lungs, and four stomachs, thus giving them a robust circulatory system that's effective at filtering out toxins.

Growth Rate & Stages

Bisorberus' take a long time to grow, and don't reach maturity till the age of ten, and as such they are put to work before they are ready, but even at an early age they begin to grow their horns. Yet because of the heads these horns must be cut off, but some farmers will only cut off the horns on the middle head, and one horn on the left and right head, so the bisorberus can haul heavy loads.

Ecology and Habitats

Bisorberus' prefer plains and hills to graze, or places with enough shade during the summer months.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The bisorberus mostly gets food by grazing, but because of their size, and their lack of initiative when it comes to foraging, they require constant feeding by their owners, but can store alot of fat, so as to go along time without feeding--thus farmers will intentionally over feed the animals, so as to go a whole week without feeding them.

Biological Cycle

During winter the bisorberus grows a thick, shaggy pelt, and sheds it off during spring. During summer they try to reduce their intake of food so as to reduce the amount of fat on their bodies, and prefer to stay near bodies of water to keep cool.

Additional Information

Domestication

It is hard to domesticate a adult bisorberus, and thus is much easier to domesticate a calf, which gets rid of their aggression, at the cost of them being much slower, fearful of predators, fatter, and lacking any drive, thus making them easier to push around.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Bisorberus are commonly raised for their meat, for it's easier to kill them for beef than it use them for farm work, as the beasts are high maintenance, and the domesticated breed is easy game predators. Plus the beasts are slow, and even when domesticated it still takes a lot of training to get them to move when whipped. Thus only those with a lot of time and patience will raise a bisorberus for field work, though using regular oxen is preferable. Some cities keep a barn full of the beasts though, as they are useful when hauling construction materials, or other heavy loads.

Bisorberus' aren't really intelligent, and this gives them easy to enrage if they feel threatened.
