My Rules

Each prompt must contain at least one unique and individual item, I will be completing them in any order and will put several different inspirational elements to each of the articles/prose.
Each of the prompts will also contain a two sentence horror story inspired by the prompt itself.

Process

Inspired by the idea of a geographical chasm, I wanted to place one in my world that had elements of a scary nature, without making it unnatural and ill-fitting for the world.
From this, I used a conflict from within The Shatter, to formulate the creation of a chasm that had been touched and cursed by the presence of Quindra, who's portfolio includes decay. This led to the creation of a chasm miles long that houses several disgusting and strange creatures. This was what became the Rotstone Depths.

Process

In my world, I use the Dungeons and Dragons concept of a fey realm, within which there are 4 primary 'courts' or governing organisations. Each of these courts (Vesna, Leto, Osen, and Zima) represent a variety of emotions and contain a variety of fey and spirits. My primary concern for this prompt was the Zima Court, named for their cold, strange and dissonant nature. The ruling figures of the court have a vast array of powers.
This led to the idea for a character who was a spirit of darkness and chaos. Purely created with the intention of causing chaos among mortals but also to snuff the light from many of their eyes. This led to the creation of Yu-Varys Ilthra.
