The Scourge
Transmission & Vectors
The Scourge can be transmitted form person to person contact and through contaminated water and food sources. The plague is highly contagious in the second stage and only moderately contagious in the third.
Symptoms
This plague comes with 5 stages.
The First Stage: at this point in time the illness is virtually undetectable, although there were a few healers who managed to recognise the symptoms in people who contracted the plague in the final years of the epidemic. How long this stage lasts depends on person to person up, there was one girl that stayed in the first stage for three years.
- Memory Loss
- Fatigue
- Frequent Headaches
- Less control over magic
- Blackening of the Veins (especially around the face and neck areas)
- Hallucinations
- Fever
- Bloody Cough
- Severe Headaches
- Bleeding out of the nose and eyes
- A Complete loss of magic
- Gradual lose of a persons sense of smell, sight and hearing
- Gradual Paralysis
Treatment
The cure was found in a common herb which you made into a tea but it was found that this only worked up to stage four and sometimes it didn't work at all. Magic was also used to cure the infected.
Prognosis
Anything after stage 4 the likely result was death.
Sequela
Many people who were cured after they lost their sight, healing, paralysis of limbs. Also many of the mages who were infected never regained full control of their magic.
