WorldEmber 2022
The Pledge
Time really does fly by as WorldEmber is once again getting close. I have had a busy few last months and only managed to participate in the chronicles challenge. But I am planning to use November to prepare for WorldEmber and do some serious writing once more. Just like before I will once again focus on my world of Niorath but with a renewed focus after my newly updated elevator pitch for it!
Elevator Pitch
After the superb sage seminar I have reworked my elevator pitch and what I want the unique selling point of my world to be :)
At the start of a new industrial age the nations of magic and technology clash.
On one side there are the Elves. Due their superior affinity to magic, they had always been the dominant group, even after their ancient empire collapsed. Their mastery of magic is unrivalled which becomes clear to anyone walking through their astounding cities. In opposition to them are the Humans and Dwarves. With much less magic available to them, they took another turn. Thanks to a rapid industrialisation and arms race they even surpassed the Elves in some ways. Among the other species the Gnomes took a bit of both worlds. By merging magic and technology they became a dominant power in their own right.
The world is filled with ruins left behind by the gods and other advanced empires. Now several factions try to get an edge by delving ever deeper in them. But all of these ruins suggest one thing, a bad future for those who aim to high.
Can the nations of today hope to avoid the same fate?
Plans
During this year's summercamp I expanded on articles that I wanted to write since last worldember but did not yet find the chance to write. What I did not manage to include as much as I wanted was the larger overview articles. One of my focus points for this worldember will be to finally get to some larger overview articles with the main focus on the magic system and species. The reason for this is that I want to get the core of my world done and more accessible to new people. In addition to that I plan to expand one specific region/people, the Elves. Both the Gnomes and Humans have had quite a few articles dedicated to them already so it is only natural to flesh out another one the main factions in depth. This will be both about the species itself, culture, the countries and religion.General Articles
