Valeande

As my eyes behold before me the sea of stars I can't help but feel humbled. I am but a small drop of water in a vast river. But as many drops together can change a river's course so can people influence the world. I hope to be that first drop to get many more to follow in my footsteps.

Valeande is perhaps the most known explorer of ancient times. They had already become famous even before their biggest expeditions. In their earlier exploring days it was Valeande who mapped the various mountain ranges and forests of Farlis. When the expeditions to Pavanor started he was one of the first to travel there.
But his biggest achievement happened after many centuries of exploring. While mapping the Doromir mountains Valeande stumbled upon a portal to Outer Nervonia, also known as the Elemental Realms. He returned there many times, each time exploring a new and very different part of those realms. The journal of his travels, Walking the Planes, became famous and is still used today as the basis for the cosmological theories of Outer Nervonia.

Personal Life

Early Life

Not much is known of the very early years of Valeande. We know that they were always curious and started their first explorations at a rather early age for a High Elf. As they were born in the center of the Avaronian Empire the first explorations of Valeanda took place within the Empire. He made the first accurate maps of the vast stretches of the Izim Woods, explored the Volker Desert and even travelled a bit outside of the Empire to the Baidan Jungle.
When the Avaronian Empire undertook their first expeditions to the continent of Pavanor, Valeande joined them. After accompanying them for several years, Valeande decided to travel back to Farlis as there was still much to explore there.

Relationships

Valeande is known to have grown up in a large family. As one of the youngest of many brothers and sisters Valeande was not expected to fullfill a big role in the family. This was the main reason why Valeande's parents supported the choice to become an explorer.
Just like many High-Elves Valeande was not really bound to their original biological sex. Given the easy access to magical enhancements they often switched sex although the majority of the time they mainted a male form. They were known to have had several partners of the years regardless of gender. Valeande is also know to have been both a dad and a mom.

Personal History

Walking the Planes

Valeande's fame really took off once they reached Outer Nervonia. The first realm they visited was, according to his famous journal, linked to the element of air. During this expeditioned they stayed in flying palaces which were owned by an avian humanoid race. Due to certain winds boats were even able to fly between these palaces, an experience that encouraged Valeande to return to the Elemental Realms.
After they came back from their first expedition there they returned many more times, but each time to a different area. Valeande talks about large oceans filled with gigantic creatures, river of lava, endless swamps and much more. Near the end of their life Valeande published the journaly they kept under the name Walking the Planes. Even today this is a famous piece of work that is the basis for much of the common cosmological models.
