Una Cabeza Lleva de Sombra

A head full of shadow.

Causes

The longer a warlock has their gifts/curse/powers the stronger they get. This has a tendency to go to their head.

Symptoms

The first sign that a warlock is filling up with the shadow, is constantly wearing their Mask. The only time the glow goes out is when they sleep.   The next step is a shortness of temper. Things that didn't use to bother them will send them ranting. Things that did bother them might even cause them to lash out physically.   Next, is a compulsion to use their power. Maybe just a slight increase in the ambient temperature, or an extra inch of height. Or they may go all out and keep a corona of flame behind their head. This is usually accompanied by a relaxation of morals. The unthinkable becomes commonplace.   The point of no return is full on megalomania. Denial of The Almighty's supremacy, punishing every imagined disobedience, demanding worship. One famous case demanded the hearts of virgins to be served to her on a gilded platters. Any other person with this condition would be shut down without any issue. But a warlock who has slid this far down the ladder is not someone to be trifled with. It might take an army to stop them now.

Treatment

It's possible to talk the warlock back if the condition is caught early enough. While the exact progression of symptoms isn't well documented, warlocks going mad is the main reason they're hated.

Prognosis

Should the condition progress to it's full megalomaniacal state, it may be best to simply put them down. I mean, good luck doing that, but it is usually what's best for all involved.

Affected Groups

Warlocks of all ages, genders, and types.

Prevention

Regular doses of humility. Friends and family close by to keep them grounded. Skepticism of divinity in general seems to indicate an innate ability to repress the madness. The Dread, in one of his papers on the subject, suggested he resists it out of spite, just to prove La Casa wrong.
