The Marluni Flax

A remnant of something that might have come before Humans and Demons. Evidence of such are... hard to accept but something existed before, that one can agree with.
— Everam, Teller of Nimenra
Marlun have many remnants of Human and Demon settlements and locations of importance. There are, however, still some things that remain unexplained even after 1000 years of exploring these vast lands. While not aplenty, standing stones, unknown ruins, artefacts unrecognisable by scholars on both sides and mysteries that no one takes their time to solve can be found here and there. In one of these locations, a strange artefact was found which in turn has been called "The Marluni Flax" (or The Marluni Cryman). This artefact is located in Glarn, locked away by the town's "explorer's guild".

Apperance

The artefact is most known for its strange appearance. The blade is 1,2 meters, slightly curved and is neither rusted nor seemingly aged. Only slight use can be seen as a dull shine. The handle seems to show that it has been used as scratch marks and wittering can be seen. In total the Flax is 1,5 meters. What draws one's eyes is the strange letters or runes that the blade is inscribed with at the bottom of the blade before the handle and guard. No known language has been able to translate the inscriptions. They are thought to be related to the Tower of Cuthura in Telamirein according to scholars who have seen inscriptions from the tower and the blade.

Properties

The presumed weapon is magical but according to the powerful wizards who can sense the magic inside it has no resemblance to any other magical artefacts, related to the Gods or others found. As Enchantment Magic is already hard to determine and more or less forgotten lore for both Humans and Demons, there is no clear answer to what the artefact can do. The people who attempted to wield the weapon see it as not unique in any way. Unlike swords that are made by Humans and Demons, there is only one edge that is sharp, the inner one.

Artefacts of a unknown past

Scholers record the findings that does not fit the narrative of The Eight Pantheons myth and other historical records. The Flax, The Tower of Cuthura, The Aged Hall of Manir and others seem to relate. What other civilization existed before is intriguing to many but as long as The War continues no one is fully safe to explore ruins and locations to the fullest. Secrets can be found not only in towns like Glarn but also in plain sight like with the Flax which was found in a field not far from the settlement. In any case, the unknown past reveals itself ever slightly in artefacts and locations like these.
