Raids

Raid Overview

Raids are a high risk, high reward activity where you test your groups ability to take on the toughest foes in hopes to prevail and receive high tier loot. Here's the catch: If you and your team fall in battle while in the raid, then you are sent back out to the area where you started it and it becomes no longer available. But don't fret, the raid that you were unable to complete may become available again after some time has passed and you may attempt it once again when it does so. Since it is an optional activity, raids are considered not to be 'story driven' nor tied to quests that NPCs give out and instead have their own in-activity quest line that is dedicated to that particular raid and is completed once you finish the raid, or rather if you can finish the raid. Raids open up every 5 levels (First ones open at level 5, followed by levels 10, 15, and 20). Each raid will also scale up as you level up, so if you save a raid that you unlocked at level 5, it will still cater to whatever level you are currently sitting at. Since it is a high risk, high reward activity, there are special banners that may help along the way. The debuff called Raid's Toll will be applied to all party members once in the raid and what it means is that Short and Long rests are slim to none in this activity, so you'll need to be strategic with your spells. Additionally, spells such as 'remove curse' are ineffective against perks/debuffs within the raid area. As a final note, the Deck of Un-Bearable Mishaps is disabled in this activity.

Banners

Banners are optional pick ups that you can purchase at cities with divine halls in them (Thrymheim, Glitnir, and Fen Halls). There are four different types of banners that aim to help you along in the raids with their ranging perks. All banner perks will go away once you leave the raid area (from being reset or from completion of the raid). NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE BANNER ACTIVE AT A TIME. ONCE A BANNERS PERK IS ACTIVATED THE BANNER ITSELF IS BY ALL MEANS DESTROYED AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE.

The Banner of Freya gives you and your party the Children of Freya perk which activates when you and your allies fall incapacitated and instead of getting sent back to the start of the raid area and having the raid become unavailable, you are provided with a second chance in that you will be respawned at the start of the last encounter you fell to and are allowed to continue on with the raid (this is a one time use, after this perk is activated your team will lose the perk).

The Banner of Njord gives you and your party the Fortune of Gods perk which activates once you complete the raid and collect the loot provided by the slain boss of said raid. Once active, you gain additional high end loot from the raid end loot pool (this perk only activates for final boss and does not activate for any encounters leading up to it).

The Banner of Hod gives you and your party the Blind But All-Knowing perk which activates whenever there is environmental restrictions/hazards at play. This means that total darkness is instead dim light for all party members without darkvision and is bright light for those with darkvision. Additionally, toxic fumes, lava pools, acid pools, etc. are taken out of the arena and cannot affect your party nor the enemy, setting a fair playing field for all. Note that environmental hazards such as holes in the floor or crumbling ceilings are not nullified. This perk also applies to Areas of Bad Omen, meaning that healing is allowed in Areas of Bad Omen and necrotic damage is not amplified.

The Banner of Sif gives you and your party the Found But Never Lost perk which activates if your party fails the raid encounter and is sent back to the start. Once activated, the perk ensures that all consumable items/materials used within the raid encounter are returned to you and your allies. These items are but not limited to potions, runes, food, beverages, spell components, and scrolls. This perk does not work for raid completions, only failures (it is intended to be a fail-safe for those wanting to attempt a raid but not risk losing items that they have acquired).

B.O.B

By Odin's Beard (BOB) is a challenge mode for raids where you cannot have any banners active, you are limited to (1) Short and (1) Long rest, the entirety of the raid encounter is considered to be an Area of Bad Omen, and where if one of your party members dies in combat, then it means that the raid fails and you are returned to the start (Note this does not mean going down will restart the raid, only truly dying will restart). However, BOB runs keep the raid activity active and can be tried repeatedly... from the start of course. If you and your hellborn comrades manage to complete BOB challenge mode, then the loot is oh so plentiful. Completions mean that you get even more loot then you would with the Banner of Njord and also mean that you can opt to take on master tier hunts in the Forbannet Land to try and take down elder dragons (Note that master tier hunts unlock after first completion of a BOB and remain unlocked after). Happy delving.
