IAF Building
The IAF Building in Serendipity, Zenxon serves as the headquarters for the International Astromythological Foundation. Though the foundation, as its name implies, organizes events all over Nideon, it's main building is in Zenxon, in line with the architect's wishes. Despite being associated with the Astromythologists, the building is viewed as a jewel within the city and is often visited by tourists.
Construction
After its founding, the leaders of the IAF wanted to commission an observatory that could act as both astromythological education center and a place where organization leaders could meet to make important decisions regarding the future of the IAF. As the original founders were from Nefrale, they sought famed architect Essence Sweetmoss to design the building. Sweetmoss agreed with the stipulation that the building would be constructed in her home country of Zenxon, where she hoped to use it as a statement to bring awareness to the livlihood and struggle of sprites like her family and friends. The IAF agreed and the building was constructed in Zenxon's capital, Serendipity.
The building is constructed in Sweetmoss's typical style, which combines modern human construction materials with elements from her own sprite heritage, resulting in a unique work where the indoors meets the outdoors. Plant life can be found surrounding the building as well as inside, blurring the line between interior and exterior space. Though the observatory itself is small relative to several other observatories the IAF owns on Nideon, the building also contains an astromythological museum and planetarium where member research is brought to life in a rotating array of shows and exhibits. The upper story contains meeting rooms and offices for organization leaders.
The favorite room is a glassed-in pavillion filled with greenery and a fountain. The pavillion is open to visitors eight days a week and locals and tourists are both known to visit as a way to rest from their busy days. Its beauty has made the IAF building a top ten site in the country, more visited even than the capitol building, despite the general disagreement with astromythological beliefs. A small plaque at the entrance explains how the pavillion blends nature and construction in a way which honors sprite tradition, and that such structures are found in all the buildings which Sweetmoss has designed.
