Bridget Venalinen

Bridget Venalinen is an Ethite hero known for killing Olivia Jin. She has received the title of Most Honored Ethite.

History

Venalinen was born into poverty among the people who practiced the Nemon religion. She trained as an artist, becoming skilled at both stone carving and the sexual arts. Though this improved her position among her people, it garnered her little respect among the other tribes of the western Southern Continent, particularly those of the Ethite religion, for whom intimate touch is taboo. When Oliva Jin rose to power, she brought change as she adopted different aspects of the surrounding religions, including the sexual reverence of the Nemon. Though Jin took Venalinen as a lover, Venanlinen's writings reveal that she did not trust Jin, whom she suspected to be motivated by power rather than kindness. One night, after Jin fell asleep, Venalinen killed her by hammering a chisel into her head.   Rather than creating a power vacuum, Jin's death made it easy for the leader of the Ethite tribe to step into the role of the leader of the newly united tribes. This leader had Venalinen arrested for murder, but an Ethite priest defended her case, convincing the king that Venalinen's actions should not be considered murder. Many historians believe this was planned on the part of the Ethite king so that he could pardon the woman without losing face as a strong and fair leader. Overall, Venalinen was welcomed by the Eithite people, despite her profession. Several centuries after her death, the Ethite council awarded her the title of Most Honored Ethite.
