Strosarian Republic Military

The Strosarian Republic Military is the armed forces of the Strosarian Republic in the Breas System. Currently, they’re the smallest military organization in the Epsilon Star Cluster. But they are the most skilled and adaptable military force in the Epsilon tri-system region.
This military organization traces its roots back to the Quad PIrate Wars. It was a few months after the conflict began that pirate attack ships dropped into Breas. At first they only targeted cargo ships, shortly after that it was the young colonies themselves.
The scattered colonies had a limited government, and no organized fighting force outside of local law enforcement. But they survived as best as they could. It wasn’t until a pirate raid nearly destroyed the Marid colony on Strosaria that the colonists took matters into their own hands.
Isolated resistance groups fought back through ‘hit and run’ skirmishes and other guerrilla warfare tactics. It wasn’t a full on war, but a war of attrition against the pirates clans.
These methods were effective in the short term. But the lack of coordination between resistance fighter cells hindered their ability to drive off the pirates. This changed when Jack Methias DeBiers took steps to establish communication lines between the resistance cells across the three inhabited worlds.
This “Nexus” group were couriers and scouts that maintained the communication lines, often delivering messages between groups by hand if needed. That provided the needed line of communication to bolster the colonist’s defense. It was the birth of the Strosarian ‘mobile infantry’ that came to be the backbone of the future Strosarian Republic Military.
Structure
Serving in the Strosarian military is required by all citizens of the Strosarian Republic. Once they reach the legal age of maturity, citizens are required to serve for three years. The legal age of maturity depends on species, whether human or velid.
Currently, the Strosarian Republic Military is the umbrella name for the defense force of the Strosarian Republic. The SRM comprises the following branches: Strategic Star Command, Strosarian Star Navy, Nexus Special Operations, Strosarian Mobile Infantry, Medic Corps.
Strategic Star Command
Star Command is the umbrella organization that oversees the administrative and logistics of the other armed forces’ branches. Their primary role is to manage the duties and process of the Strosarian armed forces outside of combat. Key among these duties is to provide necessary equipment, training, and services to members of the Strosarian military as part of their service. During wartime, Star Command’s responsibilities expand to broad strategy and logistics of enabling each branch to effectively perform their role as needed.
Strosarian Star Navy
To the Unknown and Beyond
The Strosarian Star Navy was originally established as a counter to pirate raids against cargo ships in the Breas system. Today, their primary mission is to maintain the peace along the slipstream lanes and protect Strosarian interest in the Breas system.
In times of peace or war, they handle transport of personnel and supplies between regions in Breas. They supply aerospace and other support for the other branches as needed during an engagement. Most Strosarian carriers come equipped with 100 S-12 Starneedle Space Superiority Fighters and 40 N-12 Hammershock Superfortress Bombers.
Aside from aerospace craft, Star Navy starships can be bought directly into a planetary engagement. Devil-lance batteries and Hellstrike missiles are used for precise orbital bombardment when needed. During space engagement, these weapons are no less deadly. There, the Star Navy also uses Rail-Shard batteries, Protonic torpedos and more to defend itself or Strosarian interests.
Nexus Special Operations
Not for one, but for all
This branch is the intelligence and special operations branch of the Strosarian armed forces. Like the Mobile Infantry, they originated during the Quad Pirate Wars. But they also hold a special place in Strosarian history as the ‘lifeline’ that helped keep the Republic alive during those dark times.
The Nexus Special Operations branch deals with maintaining data and other communication between the other branches. In addition, they are called on to conduct activities that require unconventional techniques, specially trained and equipped personnel to defend and protect Strosarian interests in the Breas system.
These activities range from reconnaissance, counter-pirate actions, unconventional warfare, and more. Their skills emphasize stealth, speed, tactical coordination in situations where other branches could not act. It isn’t uncommon to hear of counter-pirate actions being performed by Nexus agents. These teams have been called on to recover kidnap victims, identify and prevent raids on colonies, counter threats over the Breas system’s cybernet, and more.
Small teams of Nexus agents can, and do, often work alone. But the other branches do have Nexus agents assigned to them. They act as information relay agents to work with independent Nexus teams in the field. They then pass information gained onto the appropriate branch as needed.
Strosarian Mobile Infantry
Scalebacks lead the way!
The Mobile Infantry is the main ground fighting force for the Strosarian military. Their primary role is to defend and protect Strosarian ground locations, orbital outposts, and other interests in the Breas system. Mobile Infantry is the oldest of the branches. It can trace its roots back to the original resistance cells defending the young colonies on Mingoth, Strosaria, and Nabos in orbit around Taranis.
In their role of defense and protection, they have a wide array of equipment at their disposal. Photonite Artillery, Assault Aerocopters, and the reason for the military branch’s name, the AV-4 Dragonback Powersuit made by Jirondac Corp.
Medic Corps
Above and Beyond, Always Ready
Out of all the branches, the Medic Corps is perhaps the most visible of all the branches. This is the medical and scientific branch of the Strosarian armed forces. Their key role is medical support and advanced scientific research to support the Strosarian Republic Military and Strosarian Republic interests.
Part of this mission involves a lot of interaction with the Strosarian Republic. The Medic Corps is routinely brought in on peace-time missions that involve search and rescue operations or even disaster relief. It’s quite common to see members of the Medic Corps working alongside civilian contractors in rebuilding infrastructure ruined through planetary or stellar disasters, such as a meteor strike.
Their assets include a small fleet of ships designated for search and rescue, research, hospital and other medical needs. Star Navy mans those ships, but they report to the Medic Corps chain of command. Medic Corps also maintains a vast array of construction and transport equipment for their work at disaster relief. This is the branch that maintains a working relationship with civilian shipping and other companies, such as Thova Transport Systems.
