The Devilsnakes of Lantern Hill

Newfoundland. That's the continent the kingdoms of the fairy tale stories we know and love have come across. Many settlements have been built in this new-found continent, the biggest one being Lantern Hill, a city on a hill that is eventually put under the control of a church's theocracy. The church is the tallest building in the town, the light that shines above the treacherous valley, the source of pride for many of the citizens of Lantern Hill.   For many years, the citizens of Lantern Hill lived a peaceful life doing their very best to aid the longevity of the settlement, until one fateful year, when the church's priest and the town's wizard made a secret pact to transform people who stand against the church's corruption into monstrous beings, which were subsequently labeled by the church as Devilsnakes. The transformed ones hide themselves away, the church frames the occurrences on the continent's indigenous natives, and the citizens of Lantern Hill are urged to take up arms in order to "take the transformed out of their misery" with a newly invented handgun: the revolver.   The priest and his cohorts have forgotten one thing, though: the ones they've transformed into "Devilsnakes" have families they can go to for refuge, and trustworthy friends who can keep secrets. These loved ones will give anything to keep them safe, and will give anything to see to it that their humanity is restored.   In this land of true theocracy, it is up to those of the town who learn of the priest's deeds, and those who see through priest's lies, to make one of two difficult choices: lead a coalition of citizens against the priest before the transformed are slaughtered and before they are transformed themselves, or conform to the priest's corrupted antics.
