[Moon Quartz Farm]

On the edge of Durnatel, across its vast swathes of desert and barren land, sits a sea known as the White Sea, that glows ethereal at all times of day. This sea and its volcanic activity is the only natural creator of moon quartz, a common charm item that glows blue-white when exposed to water. This place's natural beauty made it the perfect place, of course, to set up a company that spends all day and all night extracting the quartz to sell as street trinkets for a cheap profit.

Demographics

The settlement's population is almost entirely comprised of Durnish workers.

Government

The farm operates both under Durnish laws and the rules set in place by Dareious Kaspor and his guards.

Industry & Trade

Any and all trade at this settlement is related to farming of moon quartz. The vast majority of workers are directly related to the farming- they are divers, stone cutters, and jewelers. Guards employed under Dareious to keep the peace and keep the farmers working are the next largest population, and the rest are cooks, messengers, or merchants staying at the farm temporarily.

Infrastructure

Most of the infrastructure at the farm is for blacksmithing. There are several large furnaces to melt and mold jewelry to hold the quartz, washing stations, cutting and polish stations, and rows upon rows of tables for jewelers to complete the process and pack the jewelry away to be sent out and sold.

History

When Durnatel first entered the global trade scene, its two main exports were redwood and moon quartz. At the time, the quartz was a common folk item in the kingdom that was used in traditional jewelry, and because it could only be found in Durnatel, when it was shipped out to other kingdoms, demand for the glowing white stone grew greatly. For a few years, the prices of it were kept steep because only a few small companies on the coast had the resources to extract and sell the quartz. Dareious Kaspor set out as a young man to make his fortune around this time, and saw great potential in the industry. He set up a shop on the coast and at first, employed only a few workers to dive and make jewelry. He perfected techniques to treat the stone, cut corners every which way, treated his employees poorly, and began to make a profit. In a decade, Kaspor had bought out the rival companies on the shore and fully established his own.
