Phoebe's Heart

"The source of all our powers. I want to know how it ticks. Maybe it will bring Joseph back."
— Ludwig Zhou

History

Shortly after Phoebe's death and funeral, it was thought she left behind only bones after burial.
Then rumors in Feather Mountain spread of a relic found shortly after in her remains.
There really was a brilliant green stone with a holy aura. It was then stored in Phoebe's Memorial as a sacred relic.
It began to provoke the growth of superpowers in New Luoyang's population, especially the youth. This went unknown until 2010, when the sudden reappearance of mythical powers was enough to provoke remarks and curiosity.
In 2011, Ludwig wanted to see if the old tales were true, and went to break open the memorial.
He was successful in retrieving it, but the heart itself fought back by refusing to reveal all its secrets of creation.
Meanwhile, on the surface, the remaining splendoro were mourning the loss and being blamed by citizens who did not know better.
No hero currently has the motivation to give it back, unless the underlanders somehow incited the heart's wrath enough to get rid of it.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Phoebe's heart continues to beat although she is long dead.
Each pulse releases a form of magical radiation which awakens splendoro potential.
How this works precisely is unknown, although the prevailing assumption is it exaggerates one's wish or talent into a powerful ability.

Manufacturing process

A miraculous process similar to saponification of a fat dead body, which converted Phobe's actual heart into a jade-like substance.

Significance

Cultural, it is the source of power for a growing splendoro.
