Cloudfoot Horse

A type of horse bred to be fleet of foot and strong enough to carry a man and his burden at once.

Anatomy

They have four legs, a head, a torso, and a tail made of hair.

Biological Traits

Cloudfoot horses tend to be on the slim side and have very long limbs compared to the rest of their bodies, giving them a look similar to kirins.

They have longer body fur than ordinary horses to withstand cold winters. In some cases, cloudfoots with long body fur resemble hairballs or Samoyeds.

Genetics and Reproduction

Male and female cloudfoot horses mate, with the female carrying young up for eleven months. Mares usually give birth to a single foal at a time, twins are rare.

Growth Rate & Stages

Cloudfoot horses can walk and run a few hours after they are born, reach physical maturity at 18 months. It takes them up to five years to reach their full size and potential.

Ecology and Habitats

They thrive in grasslands and flat stony plains. More recently, they have adapted to suburban life provided their caretakers have sufficient room for them to live in.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Cloud horses, like ordinary ones, are herbivores which graze on grass. A cloud horse has one stomach and long intestines.

Social Structure

Cloudfoot horses live in herds usually led by a mare.

If they are cooped up away from other horses, they will become bored and peevish, growing bad habits like kicking everything they see.

Domestication

Cloudfoot horses were a variant breed of horse that humans developed further after bringing old stock to the New World.

Tradition states that they were the result of a thoroughbred stallion mating with a draft mare, which resulted in a hybrid mare who could carry both passengers and burden.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

In the past, they were used to carry packages and people. Nowadays, they are mainly bred for show and riding purposes.

Predominantly in Xiyang Tangguo.

They are intelligent enough to be trained by dedicated riders. Some are stubborn enough only to listen to one particular rider they like.
