Taumatans

Do I like Ocean Forest style pizza? Of course I do! Who doesn't? But you know what's even better? Ocean Forest style pizza made with Taumatan ingredients! We got the best tomatoes, the best onions, the best mushrooms! To build good flavor it all has to start in the dirt, right, and Taumata has the best! You see, it all starts with volcanic ash and over time....
— Henry Tamatoa, speaking to a polite listener during an eight hour train ride
Taumatans are residents of the Desereti city of Taumata. They are famous for being food fanatics, zealously boasting of their region's terroir. To a Taumatan, while different towns may have respectable cooking traditions they can only be brought to their full potential when prepared with ingredients from Taumata. This attitude is annoying to other Deseretis but it is usually taken in stride, thanks mainly to the fact that their claims have merit.

Common Etiquette rules

For Taumatans, instead of asking "how are you doing?" it is considered polite to ask "how are your crops growing?".  When they visit each other's homes they commonly bring ripe vegetables or seedlings of new breeds.

Common Dress code

Taumatan men consider themselves gentlemen farmers, and their clothing reflects this.  The men wear baggy work pants tucked into tall boots, buttoned shirts, suspenders, and a vest.  Taumatan vests are made of colorful fabric, embroidered with images of the plants they love to grow so much.  It is fashionable to roll up the sleeves so that Taumatan men can show off their strong forearms.  Outside of work they wear higher quality versions of the same clothing, favoring dark brocades highlighted by vibrant colors.   Taumatan women dress in a similar fashion while in the field, but switch to blouses and long plaited skirts.  The blouses are typically made of shimmering silk and lightly embroidered, favoring visual texture over decorative elements.
