MidBrook Capital Building

The MidBrook Capital Building, also known as, The MCB or simply MidBrook, was constructed in 1502 ECE with the original plan to be a university that would educate the great minds of the Permese-controlled regions of Cerzgia.
However, the building saw a new version of itself emerge as the structure was then shaped as the serving governmental epicenter of the new formed United States of Cerzgia. The building was constructed in the Capital of United Cerzgia: Arullis.
Arullis served as the Eastern's melting pot of diversity, knowledge, and culture. With the city housing 20% of the Arullan Peninsula's population, it was a high valued city, and the growing freedoms and shrinking Permese influence sought the ideals of many to traverse there and make their living. At the same time however, the attention also repelled others. Few organizations refused the offers and opportunities the city bestowed.
Although this may seem like an idiotic choice for these businesses, it may have been a very crucial move in the continued existence of Cerzgia.
As MidBrook was constructed and elections began to be openly held, the Empire of Perma looked on these acts rather annoyed. The land that their people had fought for began to resent its 'rightful ruler' and began to seek plans for the re-takeover of the country. The temporary collapse of the Angulus Union and the Republic of Malahagan 's also looser grip on the people, the Permese thought of it as a perfect opportunity to claim the entire continent and assume immense power over the entire world.
They set their sights for the important city of Arullis. Believing that taking the city would call for a quick surrender, the Permese began to devise plans for the Operation. Such operation would later be called, Operation Far Island .
However, such plans would be delayed use as the Perma focused on its southern neighbors during the Zonal River Border Incidents . The delay would give the Cerzgians valuable time for the government to become even more organized and the nation's new military to become stronger.
The first use of action on the Permese front was the launch of a small invasion force of only 64 ships in response to the The Declaration of Independence from the Peoples of Cerzgia seeing the declaration as the final straw. The much stronger 140 vessel strong Cerzgian Navy would crush this force at the Triumph of Permia . This greatly angered the Permese High Allman and the next phase of Operation Far Island went into affect.
When the poorly prepared Cerzgian South Defensive was breached and destroyed so quickly that no communications were received , the 1st wave of the Perman Imperial Navy had already completed its first part of the operation. Its second part was to infiltrate the the Bay of Permia. This led to The Battle of the Bay which disallowed Cerzgian Naval capabilities that were mainly stationed within the bay. This gave way to the much larger 2nd Perman Armada to be deployed to the undefended Arullan Peninsula. The only real threats that were seen were the still active sea mines and the occasional Cerzgian Naval Ship which posed no real chance against the Armada, which far outgunned and out manned the remaining forces.

The only real defense the Cerzgians had were the infantry on the ground and across the cities that would soon be invaded. The bombardment severely damaged these defenses and the after invasions saw the death over 20,000 troops on both sides and the slaughter of over 30,000 civilians.
After the failure repel the land invasion the Western Retreat commenced. All of the remaining Cerzgian Army collapsed onto the city of Arullis and made preparations and fortifications of the city. MidBrook was heavily fortified and all important government functions were evacuated and relocated to the north and west. The Siege of Arullis would commence at around 17:00, Lakuay 3rd, 1511 ECE when the Perman Imperial Army reached the outskirts of the city. The ensuing battle would be a bloody, destructive conflict. Much of the city would be completely decimated and would never recover. When the Permese eventually broke through the barriers, the Cerzgians sen their bullets flying and the arrows gliding as the Permese relentlessly tried to reach the capital. After all the ammunition was out, the Cerzgians made a full on charge at the enemy. However, the Permese eventually killed off every last soldier and the Capital eventually fell to Permese hands. The building was damaged so badly that at around 2AM the next day, MidBrook would collapse in a flame, and smoke so thick that it actually killed some of those nearby. After the Perman Imperial Army was finally destroyed at the Battle of Incrocio , the building and its functions were relocated to Victorious Square in Downtown Poly City. From their it endured a quite peaceful life, rarely suffering from outside forces. Many presidents would call the building home for their duration of rule.
The most recent occurrence at MidBrook were the Bombings of Poly City in 2005 ECE. The building itself wasn't targeted, but the destruction set on by the surrounding debris damaged the building to a certain extent.
MidBrook has had a very rich history of presidency and importance. As stated before, the MCB is of great historical significance and is an icon in the eyes of many.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of MidBrook is to serve as the Capital Building for the United States of Cerzgia.
It was initially designed as a university for the people under Permese rule in Cerzgia. Over the course of 70 years, the location and purpose of the structure would change.
The MidBrook Capital Building now serves as a government complex in Poly City. All the branches of government operate there and it is the living place of the current Cerzgian President; Oscar Rush.

Alterations

The first alteration made was in 1502 when the building was complete, but with minor modifications to serve as the center for government function.
The next alteration was made in the first months of 1512 ECE when the original location was destroyed by the Permese and the remnants were relocated and rebuilt in Poly City.
Other materials would soon be added such as Hyper Glass and Su'lan Stone . The tradition of Nominee's Choice would be used for every election, allowing the the nominated president to make one change to the building that would be relevant.
The final alteration was made when the complex was fitted with exit routes in the event of an Inter Code Black threat or event. No further alterations have been made.

Architecture

The MidBrook Capital Building consists mainly of Hyper Glass, a material that is very durable that can withstand years off outside forces and acts as a insulator, power conductor, window, barrier, and even screen.
MidBrook is considered to be a Post-Su'lan Era. The Su'lan was an era in architecture and culture that shaped much of the modern works that are seen in the older cities in much of Angulus, Cerzgia, and Perma.
The bodies of water outside the buildings have their own significance and symbolism. MidBrook is very organic in shape. The bridges and curvature of the walls give the feeling of a more eccentric structure, made to be different from the rest. MidBrook is very wide, and has more floors that meet the eye.
The colors are made to distinguish look as minimalist as possible. Much of the building was outfitted with Hyper Glass in 1918 ECE. It was outfitted once again in 1956 and 2006.
A tradition that has been continued for a a majority of the Cerzgian presidency. After the nominee has been elected, they can present their new plans to make any formal changes to the building. As long as the plans don't make any major changes or anything that may question the structural capabilities of the building, AND the basic functions the location serves isn't altered, then the elect is free to do as they please. They may choose to change, do nothing, and even remove something from a previous administration.
MidBrook has undergone hundreds of years of change. Some notable alterations include:

• 22nd President: Boris Jesler- had made an entire floor dedicated to just bathrooms
• 3rd President: Allan Quam- made the western bridge that connected MidBrook to the artificial water trench that was made by Robert Langwood
• 2nd President: Robert Langwood- built the artificial trench on the western side of the building
• 58th president: Added the hyper tube that shot up through the building
• 1st President: Merlin Faully- Relocated the building from Arullis to the ever growing Poly City

History

MidBrook has undergone some difficult years over its entire existnce. Many have done some minor changes while others have ruined the building altogether.

The Relocation

MidBrook was originally located in the Arullan Peninsulain the city of Arullis. When the city was girst settled in 1054 ECE, the City of Arrullis became of a hub of trade and commerce. When MidBrook was being designed, it was designed to initially become a university that would centralize the Perman ideals and be the main school in the continent, potentially rivaling those in Perma. When construction of the project begun, the city was already beginning to disperse, heading northward to Faully and around the bay, many settling in modern day Union, Poly City, Fondland, Faully City, Rush, and Peralia.
The first groundwork was laid in 1448 ECE. With the original intentions still being utilized, the massive structure began its journey. However, it was around this time the Zonal River Border Incidents began to occur back in Perma, so the construction of the building began to slow. It was also around this time that Cerzgia had been vying for independence.
In 1502 ECE, the Cerzgian people completed the construction of the grand building under the original blue prints, however, the building's purpose would actually be holding the state's government and later the entire country's.
In 1509 ECE when the The Declaration of Independence from the Peoples of Cerzgia was signed and sent, thus began the Cerzgian-Permese War, or better known as The Cerzgian Revolution. When the original Perman Naval Fleet was launched in that same year, the Cerzgian East Fleet decimated them, later known as "The Triumph of Permia".
However, it is unknown the exact reasons as why such a small Perman force was sent, as they had a much larger fleet at their disposal. However, the later events that transpired put the newly formed country at its all time low. On Reggio 34, 1511 ECE, the Perman Fleet broke through and ill fortified Cerzgian Ocean Defesnive near Aukford. The force that broke through settled in the Bay of Permia and decimated the remainder of the Defensive. This gave a distraction and a clearing to the horrors that would commence on Lakuay 3rd, 1511 ECE. Coincidentally, almost exactly 2 years after the first message. The following events would be known to the future generations as The Dark Hours
MidBrook was consequently relocated to Poly City's Victorious Square where it remains.

This is known as on of the most infamous of times in all of Cerzgian history. It was filled with the death and destruction set on by the Permese Imperial Army. No other event in Cerzgian History has rivaled the same grief and hopelessness that the Dark Hours had introduced.
