Eve of Terror

NOT part of spooktober

This tradition is celebrated on the final week of the spooky season. A few days before the children get very excited and then it starts. The first night is the day that everyone acknowledges the tradition. Second night is the gathering where they gather candy that is scattered around their home city/town/village. Third night is usually the costume day or a resting day depending on the mood. Fourth night is just hanging out with friends. Fifth night is another Resting day. Sixth night is the party where there is food and celebrations. The final night the children gather around the campfire and listen to people tell tales of ghosts, horror and fright. The kids also get the chance of story telling and a vote on which story they want to hear.   The most requested story is about a tale of a young maiden who gets lost in the mountains and encounters spirits who try to help her. Something about the charm and spookiness draws the children in.   It was abandoned because certain people didn’t approve and got the king/queen of their regions decided to ban it. People have tried to get it back up and working again but there hasn’t been a successful protest. Hopefully one day it will get back up but probably not in these current conditions. Even if it did get unbanned, they probably wouldn’t do it due to the many frequent battles.

Participants

Adults who wants to help organize it and tell the stories and children who want to participate.
