The Legend of Aayan

In the present day, the Legend of Aayan, or the Legends of Aayan, are considered entertainment for younglings. These stories tell the tales of an astrodite that was born prior to the First Era. These stories can be told continuously as an epic, or individually.

Summary

They called her an orphan, for she bore no recognizable star mark and could not remember a life under the care of another. She had once woken in a shallow pool of water on an island suspended in the clouds, under a night sky with only the memory of a soft, melodious and motherly voice that sang her name to her: Aayan.
Floating in the pond, this stranger stared up at the sky. The chill of the water did not faze her as she watched the stars and tried to puzzle together her circumstance.   She had awoken here, under the night, and had the sense about many things that one might inherently know about themselves. A subconscious fact that needn't be grasped upon. Other things, learned things, needed to be grasped but yet she could not manage.   Aayan   Around her, the breeze through the grass and the trickle of a steam whispered to her. The stars above twinkled softly.   Aayan...   A voice, she realized. A real voice. Light and feathery, it called to her. Warm like a soft embrace, it named her.   Aayan, little beloved. Get up. Get out of the water.   Slowly, she obliged. She raised her body up on one elbow and finally looked away from the sky, inhaling deeply the scent of grass and damp stone. When she stood, it was on legs that trembled with uncertainty, but carried her to dry ground anyway.   Go on, little beloved.   The breeze stilled and the soft rustle of the grass and leaves around her faded to nothing with it. Aayan took a deep breath and walked to the edge of the island.

Historical Basis

Aayan was indeed a real individual, a fact which is widely accepted by the populace eons later. Many of her tales have survived the eons through oral traditions, though many have been written and officially recorded. Variations of each original tale exist, while new stories are often created and spread.   In truth, Aayan was not only a real individual, she was also the tenth spirit and the ancestor of Oritel Elian.   The spirits are the only beings to have ever faced the Ehion's consciousness. Aayan, however, was not one of them. She was the last of the spirits to be born and was placed immediately upon the surface of Navi'ita, where the echo civilization was already burgeoning. Believing herself to be one of them, that is how she lived.

Variations & Mutation

Many variations of Aayan's tales exist. One notable would be of the Stone Door.   This tale is told in two ways. One describing the archipelago Idularawhich is in part true. Aayan settled on the islands of Idulara, having been placed there upon her "birth", and raised her child there, and the islands would be home to all of her descendants for eons to come. It is not known that she settled here, only that she lived upon one of the planet's many floating islands. The tale of Aayan's ability to open portals and wormholes has been misconstrued to be that her island itself possessed a door that would lead to anywhere in the universe, so long as the person stepping through the threshold knew where they wanted to go.   The original tale is not about her islands, however. The stone door is actually a gem that was imbued with Aayan's power and could open portals in her stead. The door was a gift to her son when he was not yet able to utilize his power to its full potential, and is only able to transport the wielder to the world in which they feel safest. It was meant as an assurance that, even when one is unsure of their circumstance, there is a place of comfort awaiting.   Later generations in Aayan's line considered the artifact unstable, as it sometimes transported it's wielder to strange places rather than an exact location. Others descendants would (rightfully) claim that the stone wasn't unstable, but the wielder was distracted.
