The Erillintski Spires

A steep and barren, although not particularly high, mountain range, the erillintski spires are considered dangerous by the nations who live around them. They are not unnocupied, as between the tall peaks there are small settlements. And several of the tallest peaks are religious sites, most notably celestial/fiend cults that are at war with each other.

Geography

Steep and craggy, with thin soil that can barely support crops even in the valleys. Commonly, the "Spires" are the seven tallest peaks, named by the general populous as (tallest first): Rith, Hevill Tor, Kinderfell, Bleak Rock, Win's Maw, Lettering Sirth, Quori Peak.   The full area of the erillintski mountain range is roughly 2000 sq mi, but colloquially only a tenth of this area is referred to as the spires, the rest being more gentle and occupied by nations. This central area is ~130 miles long and between 20 and 40 miles across.

Fauna & Flora

Relatively warm and mild in it's weather, the driving factor in the wildlife of the spires is the sparseness of the vegetation due to thin, very dry soil. Several hardy kinds of goats and small mammals live off the spikey bushes, and are eaten in their turn by coyotes.   Mephits, and occasionally small demons, can sometimes be seen on the higher trails. There are stories of dragons (usually red or gold) occupying caves in the emptier areas. However, most of the magical creatures that might be encountered are usually the result of religious actions by the area's cults, rather than a wild phenomenon.
