An account of a Flekite ceremony in Rabil

After a period of discontent, during which Flekite rebellion and terrorist acts became common, the new king of Tariksan issued an inquiry into the religion. This document, penned in 352G, describes a ceremony that took place in the devout township of Rabil, one of the centers of Flek worship at the time. After all was resolved, the accounts collected became a tool for scholars studying Flek, and the rest of the wild four pantheon.

Purpose

Written by investigators of the national guard, the accounts in which this document was included were designed to give the royal council, and the lords of the gathering, a detailed veiw into large scale worship of the wild four. The accounts were instrumental in preventing the religion from being forbidden in Tariksan at the time.

Document Structure

Publication Status

The original document is private, as it contains personal notes by the investigators, and contains names of some people who prefered to remain nameless for whatever reason. However, a state-censored version (which we are assured is not hugely different from the original) has been copied many times and avaliable in most libraries.

Historical Details

Background

Penned during the early years of the unsettling, this document is one of many commissioned by the royal council. In most cases the writers are in disguise, as practitioners of the wild faith did not appreciate the intrusion by an organisation they believed was hostile. This belief was founded, as the social persecution they suffered for fifty years during the unsettling was largly institutionally encouraged.

Many of the people described in the accounts, especially this particular one, are Davmiran. For the most part, they are second generation migrants: born in Tariksan but still with a very distinct cultural identity. Lots of Davmire worshipped the wild four, especially flek, and the nature of their religion meant commitment to fighting (and probably dying) for Davmire was uncommon. There did exist a nationalist religion in Davmire, but it is non-existant outside the slave population, and forbbiden by the Yan'Katar.

Public Reaction

Those that read the accounts became convinced that Flekites meant no harm to the country, and so they began to implement laws supporting them, and encouraged integration. However, politically they lost a lot of support, and a new council was eventually established. This new council largely ignored the documents, as well as many old laws. It was revisited towards the end of the unsettleing, after the dragons' rage devastated astora.
