Grand Ambassador Rank/Title in Namkural | World Anvil

Grand Ambassador

The Grand Ambassador is one of four key ranks, alongside Grand Archon, Grand Archai, and Grand Admiral, that serve as political leaders and generals in charge of Sadrom's composite government and military. As with the other titles of its grade, it can only be held by one individual at a time, selected from among the current four Ambassadors and agreed upon unanimously by the other three principle rulers. It is held until the individual's death, voluntary retirement, or extenuating circumstances such as critical injury or a vote of no confidence.   In contrast with the other roles at the head of the Sadromi government, the Grand Ambassador plays a much more political role than a military one. The individual who leads it functions as the last and highest word on matters of international diplomacy, but they and their division also administer to inter-provincial relations, the economy, and issues of the interior such as land use. Though the other divisions may sometimes speak derisively about the "paper-pushers" of the ambassadorial branch, its intricate structure of support staff, bureaucrats, accountants, and other related roles are what keep Sadrom chugging along at peak efficiency.

History

The first individual to hold this title was the sylphen deity Sythet, prior to his Ascension as a god. When he and the other members of the pantheon were still mortal, they restructured Sadrom's government after its fall and the goblins' extermination of the royal family. As the country was re-keyed as one vast military effort against the species that had attempted to destroy them, it fell to Sythet and his experience as a Loremaster to administer to the nation's needs. What first began as an initiative to aid refugees eventually turned into one of the most tightly run ships among Namkural's many governments.
