Nylnsari

Nylnsari is a bustling port town of approximately 8,000 occupants. It is strategically positioned on the coast with close access to both Arran Edhil and Elathemar. It is governed by Duke Caeldrim and Duchess Claira who both manage the city and control all aspects including the imports and exports, defence, and law and order.

Demographics

Being a port city in the heart of the Elven heartland, it is inhabited mainly by elves, however, other races do make an appearance from the various trade routes that come through the city.

Government

The Duke and Duchess split up the daily responsibilities between themselves. They oversee all operations of the city and make sure that the trading scene is healthy and safe.

Defences

Natural and man-made defenses are nearly non-existent. Because the city was relatively recently built and no wars or threats have made an appearance. The building of walls and fortresses was neglected. However, it does boast a healthy portion of the Elven army and Royal Guard to deal with whatever squabbles appear.

Industry & Trade

The trade industry is the cities life-blood. They make a great deal of money off of import taxes and currency exchange taxes. The scattered merchants supply a small amount of extra cash flow in comparison.

Infrastructure

Nylnsari has large docks all along its coastal borders with plenty of large warehouses to store whatever imports needed. There are some outdoor markets where foreign merchants can temporarily set up shop as long as they purchase a licence. The city is also occupied by a currency exchange, common blacksmith, a more permanent general merchant, as well as several taverns for all types of people.

History

After the The Rupture, there was a need for port towns on this side of the continent. Nylnsari, was rather hastily constructed by the merchants due to its central position and ease of access. After a while the Anwen Empire decided that it had grown large enough to be called a settlement and it was annexed and brought under rule of the Elves.

Architecture

Due to its mercantile roots, the buildings here vary widely in design and materials. At one moment you may be seeing a distinctly elven influence and next door is dwarven.
