Your run of the mill dystopian world, one run entirely by an eternally 17 year old boy.   This boy is known by most as simply, K. He was born into a world where science reigned supreme, and was lucky enough to be born to a family of important scientists. With K's abnormally high intelligence, he rapidly rose through the rungs. By 16 he had become the assistant to the world's lead scientist.   K had access to every resource available to him in that position, and in his free time, he experimented with the highly confidential materials, such as dark matter, anti-matter, time itself, and the very essence of a human being, the soul.   When he had reached the age of 17, one of his experiments went horribly wrong. While before a body was merely just a vessel for a soul, he had unintentionally fused together not only his body and soul, but he has also fused his mentor's body and soul together.   Instead of panic, the two ran experiments left and right searching for side effects, weakness, new skills, a way to reverse it, and most importantly, how long they had to live.   It didn't take long before they discovered that these forms, they were highly powerful and near immortal. The only issue was that their physical forms were so unstable that a strong blow while in a weakened emotional state would kill them. Initially this seemed advantageous, many of those with access to this classified information repeated the procedure on themselves.   Then the side effects arrived.   A new power, one that could alter and influence other unfused souls. Those who were fused began manipulating all of those around them to their bidding with no way to reverse it. K and his mentor were horrified at what they had caused.   Together they tried to stop this evil and find a way to reverse the effect... but K's mentor was killed just before a solution could be reached. The research burned and K, now all alone, knowing that his family would be in danger if he involved them as well.   The fused scientists soon found K and offered him two choices. To lead, and assure the world that all was fine, or to die.   He chose to live.   He became the world's lead scientist, reassured the world while in the shadows he hunted down the fused scientists and killed them, one by one. Not for vengeance, but for the world.   He had hoped that is the scientists were killed, the souls they'd altered would be set free, but instead, the altered souls became bonded to him.   He continued to kill, believing that it was better for the souls to follow him, than remain enslaved by those corrupt people, but... he took too long. When he was complete, all but a few handfuls of high up people had altered souls.   K established a new world order. One of peace, happiness and tranquility. The people saw him as a god and followed his every word, while those who were unaltered final found out what exactly had happened and turned against him.   K turned to human experimentation, desperate to find a cure to this corruption, even going so far as to experiment on his altered younger sibling. All the while The scientists led by his elder sibling strive to end his reign, and kill him to free the world's souls.   And this is where our story begins.
