Personal history

Malrius was born in Fallharbor, the town of eternal twilight, forever in the season of autumn. He was raised by a single mother who moved them there when he was a toddler. Although he is a half elf like the majority of Galvia’s inhabitants, the patches of dragon scales scattered on his body and his gold/amber eyes with a fire red rim are not a common occurrence. Most of the children would avoid him but those that didn’t would bully him. They would beat on him almost everyday until during one fight, pinned to the ground, he yelled out in pain as he was pummeled and out of his hands that held onto his attacker’s face, scorching flames erupted severely burning his attacker. After that he kept to himself and so did the other children. The spell was powerful and though none of the children in Fallharbor needed mana amplifiers, none had this much power early on without a teacher. In his preteen years he was befriended by two sisters and their friends who were older than him. Like most of the children their age, they trained to hone their use of Mana and martial arts in hopes of being recruited by the Galvian Army. Fallharbor was a gold mine for Galvian Army. It’s proximity to the underground Arcane Crystal produced people who could tap into the Mana around them without amplifiers. This in turn made stronger soldiers to keep the beasts from The Expanse at bay and then some. Malrius’ power was a challenge to the sisters and they sparred with him every chance they got. As they grew older his powers grew stronger but eventually so did the curiosity in the origin of his dragon scales. His mother would never tell him who his father was and would avert the subject with something else. He’d notice a deep sadness in her eyes when he would ask so he wouldn’t press any further. He loved he too much to hurt her. Once in their late teens, the royal Galvian recruiters came in search of new soldiers. The usual contest was announced. A small tournament where the best children in town would spar and show off their skills. Malrius’ and his friends were filled with excitement but when he told his mother he wanted to enter she forbade him. She feared what they would do if they saw his dragon scales. His love for his mother won over his desire to enter and so he stayed away from the contest and the Galvian Soldiers. After the contest was over he learned from those who lost that the sisters and a few others had won and were taken to the capitol for proper training. A year later, his mother grew ill and was unable to recover. In her ill state she would babble and at one point she mentioned her love for an elder dragon and her love for her son. He was unable to get any more information from her before her death. With mother gone and his best friends away, there was nothing left keeping him in Fallharbor. He’d learned of an academy far in the north. They taught and sought lore and history and relics of the world. They also trained people in honing their Mana. He packed what little he had and left, making sure to hide his scales and he wore his mother’s amplifier to remember her but also to not bring any unwanted attention to himself. At the academy he felt like he belonged eventually did not hide his scales while there. There were many powerful Mana users and no one really cared for his looks nor did they believe any nonsense about being born of an Elder Dragon. He made friends and eventually joined a group that was sponsored by the academy to explore the lands in search of new lore and relics.
