Sacrifice of renewal
Once a month on the new moon, before dark, the villagers of Shizu Mura tie a female goat to a tree-trunk outside the limits of the town. The same tree is always used and the goat is always gone come dawn. The inhabitants of the village refuse to speak of its fate or why they perform this ritual.
