Kikuko
Madam Kikuko
Kikuko is a former geisha, herself. From the Unicorn Clan's Senseki Province to Naishou Province's west, she was sold to a geisha house in Kibukito by her farmer parents after several years of bad harvests. Working her way up, she was eventually able to purchase her contract.
A succession of wealthy patrons left her very well-off and she decided that she'd had enough of the cold and the gaijin in Kibukito. With her accumulated wealth and influence, she acquired travel papers, hired a ronin bodyguard, and headed south and east. Discovering that she didn't much enjoy traveling, she resolved to settle in the first large town or city she came to that had decent weather.
Toshi No Naishou fit the bill and here Kikuko remained. As luck would have it, the then-current owner of the Lonely Pearl Geisha House was looking for a successor and none of the current geisha were acceptable to her. She took Kikuko on as a partner to begin with and less than 2 years later, the house prospering as Kikuko took on more and more of the responsibilities of running it, the old madam retired. Kikuko has now owned and operated the house by herself for the last 8 years.
She no longer takes clients, but if she desired to, she would compete for the top ranking in her own house.
