Abbot Goichi

Goichi has lived at Inari Seido all his life. His parents died of illness when he was a very young child and the monks, as they do, took him in. He embraced the life of simple labor and spiritual fulfillment and rose up through the ranks one rung at a time. Now in his 80's, he's been the abbot for more than 20 years. In that time, the peasants of the surrounding villages have come to revere him. His knowledge of Inari and her customs of worship is seemingly boundless and he has always acted to protect the villagers.
Although Goichi is now blind and largely confined to his cell, his mind and wits remain sharp and his leadership of the temple is as vital and engaged as it was when he first assumed the role of abbot.
