Headman Gakuto
A burly former miner now in his middle age, Gakuto is still in remarkable shape. The villagers of Hitori Mura respect his long years of experience in the mines and his physical presence. When he stands and casually brings a pick-axe to his shoulder, it has a way of calming tempers. He is known and respected throughout the Taru Mountains and takes his responsibilities seriously.
With a genuine love for the lifestyle in his isolated village, he is concerned about its future. His eldest son recently led an ore delivery trip to Toshi No Naishou and came back with a taste for sake and dice. Gakuto has 6 other children to worry about (a very large family by mountain village standards) and his son is not the first of his village's young people to hear the siren song of city life. The death of the Phoenix Governor also weighs heavy on his mind. He knows that any war among the Great Clans would disrupt the trade that they depend on to feed themselves.
