Ithilâlfur

(Ith-eel-ol-fyur)

The Ithilâlfur are a group of elves that refused to remain on Úthaf when the dragons began mating with them. Upon making land on the western part of Lairelithoniel , they laid roots in its largest forest. Eärenmôrthross , their home city, is hidden beneath the ruins in the center of this forest’s darkest reaches.

The Ithilâlfur prefer doing their business under the cover of the silvery moon as opposed to the bright shine of the day. If one is found during the day, they will be covered in long glamorous gowns. They talk peace and harmony over war and work towards that during severe negotiations; finding the gore of battle harsh and wasteful. Don’t underestimate these quiet subdued people; they will not hesitate to remove one’s existence if their family is threatened.

At present day, the throne remains empty; it's only heir remain hidden. Who it is remains to be unsaid.

Description-The Ithilâlfur are a thin, magical creature with otherworldly grace. They are quiet but highly intelligent. With their unearthly grace and fine features, they appear hauntingly beautiful to other races. They are slightly shorter than the average elf; standing about 4’2” to 4’8” tall and weigh between 75 and 90 lbs. Their skin is pale, almost an alabaster color, with a tint of cool tones such as blue or violet and almost appears to glimmer in the moonlight. Their hair is often black; with and occasion to be deep blue or deep violet. Elves possess such a beauty that even when mated with a dragon, their appearance only changes slightly.

Lifespan- Elves come from the fey ancestry and so live gentle spiritual lives that enrich their bodies with rejuvenation allowing them to live very long lives. Because of this they age slowing becoming adult not until age 100. They care well for themselves giving them soft brilliant appearances which people often mistake for youth, but at the age of 400 they are now considered middle-aged. Their beliefs grant them prosperity which guides them along their path well into their 600th year when they hit prime. By this time they have refrained from reproduction and continue their lives in a graceful peace until they return to their mother; Náttúran around their 8th century.

Abilities-A Ithilâlfur is no different in knowing what they want than any other person, what sets them apart from others is their extreme psychic ability to always know what to expect. They are quiet, sitting back in the shadows, striking at the exact moment as planned. They have a strong relationship to their guardian who gives them an added benefit of illusion and longer life; up to about 800 years. With this, they are able to hide in plain sight and convince others that what they are seeing is real.

Personality-The moon elves are the most misunderstood races because of their extreme passion and power. They get their strength from the psychic and emotional realms and have become extremely clairvoyant and intuitive.

What make them so unique and dangerous are their instincts to sit back and wait; striking when it’s least expected. Life is a game of chess them; constantly plotting several steps ahead in order to orchestrate an eventual checkmate. This doesn't mean their intentions are necessarily nefarious; they simply know what they want and aren't afraid to work hard and play the long game to get it. They never show their cards, and their enigmatic nature is what makes them so seductive and beguiling. Unlike most other races of elves, they crave the physical closeness, spiritual illumination, and emotional intimacy that sex can provide and so their partnerships are monogamous, and their families are large.

For a long time, the moon elves have managed a vast energy of ambition and enticing favors. But don’t cross them or you’ll pull out their shadowy side which is fueled by a relentless desire for control and pent up frustrations. Unfortunately, this allows for an ego that poisons their mind with anger and rage. The moon elves are at its best when its powerful sincerity is applied to deep, soulful connections with friends and lovers. Upon building trust with others, they demonstrate unparalleled empathy, depth, and commitment which brighten even the darkest parts of their mystical psyche.

Society-The Ithilâlfur live a quiet secluded life, away from others. Rarely do you see them in groups outside their own kind. They live in the ruins of Lairelithoniels’ largest forest that from the surface appears to be long lost to the wilds. Beyond the magical barrier, the soft shine of silver lines the walls. Ivy vines have grown intertwining the stone columns. The soft glow of fireflies’ light hovers in the mist as a gentle lavender scent is carried along the breeze. There is a soft pleasant sound of music lingering in every corner.

The Ithilâlfur have a King and a Queen whose lineage has ruled these parts for tens of thousands of years. They have a dedicated faith and a strong connection with their guardians; renewing that bond every 500 years. Their bond grants them a gift of illusion which is what protects them from the outside world.

Eärenmôrthross is also the only area where silver can be found and so the Ithilâlfurs are the only ones who have access to this mineral. They also have a fine silk they use for their clothing and furniture. When used with clothing and armor, it is imbued with magic; granting it the gift of illusion. They are not a greedy type but are reserved when it comes to selling it. They trade with the Anorâlfur, the elves across the sea to the east; as this is part of their arrangements.

Where relations are concerned, they are a monogamous race. They court their interest for a long period of time before committing to a union. Unlike most even races, they have sexual relations as a way of continual commitment to one another. They do find pleasure in this because it strengthens the bonds of the union; spiritually and mentally. As a group, their people are quite social. They often have gathering for no reason other than to socialize. Their dinner parties are elaborate feasts, elegant enough for even the king and queen to attend; though they rarely do. Ever since their youngest daughter passed on, they have become very reserved: The queens’ advisor doing most of their bidding.

History- When the elves left Úthaf 30,000 years ago and made land to the south in a think forest marsh, many of them felt like they were home. Others disagreed, thinking they wanted to be out in the warm sunshine; they were tired of living in hiding and returned to sea.

Eärenmôrthross trade port started out as a small village that house 80 elves. Lonely and cold they struggled to build a way of life from nothing. By around 8000 BN, though trade was minimal, Eärenmôrthross became the largest elven city in the world. Because of the size of their army, no one dare threaten their Queen. She passed this strength onto her descendants; wise and courageous they became.

Queen Hijóðuriel Lómëithil may have been a silent ruler, fearless none the less; yet many still attempted to take what belonged to her. In 4762 BN her scouts discovered a cave vast with silver veins and they build a mining colony there; one so large many tried taking it from them. During this time a great war broke out. A group of unknown origin landed on the southern shores and moved in on them; catching them completely unaware. Angered by this, and with failed negotiations, Queen Hijóðuriel Lómëithil had never needed help before and refused to ask for it now. Her pride may have saved her lands but at the cost of 80% of her army. Not wanting this news to get out, she called upon her dragon guardian for council; who did not immediately answer. They gradually rebuilt their lives and no one else attempted an attack.

By 2839 BN Eärenmôrthross was rebuilt larger and stronger than before. Queen Ielathriel Lómëithil was strong and powerful, a sorcerer not to be reckoned with. After their recovery from the great war, she felt a need for each region to work together to keep the lands safe for their people and met with her cousin, the Anorâlfur King, King Viturion Anorrhuin, at Onēlión. Her King and her youngest daughter, Tuarwen Lómëithil, accompanied her. Upon meeting them, the prince fell in love with Tuarwen Lómëithil immediately and as part of the negotiations, he asked to take her as his bride, locking in the agreement. Council began meeting shortly after.

Queen Ielathriel Lómëithil returned home and instructed a temple be built in the name of their Primal Mother and Father, to honor their continued faith in them. The Primal Mother was so deeply impressed that she sent a guardian to them. The guardian was honored and grants them a gift of illusion; they were now able to protect their homelands without the aid of others. The oldest daughter, and heir to the throne, was so impressed she offered herself to him as tribute and thanks for their guidance. A child was born of this union; strengthening this bond between guardian and clan.

As Naralagon approached, they fear not what could destroy them, nor worry of rebuilding; the guardians guide their way and protected them throughout. Some were lost though many were recovered. Eärenmôrthross expanded their lands and built Silifdea, now known as the capital and the palace for the Ithilâlfur. Life continued as though nothing happened, save a new material was found. In 768 AN silk was harnessed from a worm found within the forest. This silk was used for clothing and imbued with magic which gave the wearer access to its use; illusion. If magic was unknown to the wearer, they could simply hide in plain sight. This was not commonly found outside Eärenmôrthross.

In 2487 an illness brought in through the port swept the streets of Eyðimörk killing 30% of the people. For 20 years, the illness spread across Yara . By the time it hit Lairelithoniel it had wiped out 23% of the worlds’ population. Some believed it to be a curse while others blamed it on their enemies. Those who remain were stronger for it. Either way, they all had to once again rebuild.

In 2844 AN, it was time for Princess Naerdiel Lómëithil to meet his betrothed, Prince Calcyllion Anorrhuin. Though their meeting went well, Prince Anorrhuin refused. The meeting went well, and a courtship was started, though he was unable to put his heart into it. His feelings about purity were very important to him and he had already fallen in love with another young woman. He promised to make amends later. Shortly after the princess died of heartache and left a child in the care of her best friend. Kaiya was raised with a secret family on Yara; whereabouts were unknown to both families.

As of 2931 AN, though recently the Anorâlfur prince refused to accept, the bond between guardian and clan remains strong, and the efforts to keep faith between clans continue. The threat from afar and across into the Beárnyékol , threaten the lands and the Ithilâlfurs refuse to fight; believing that negotiations would be the wiser choice. Their King has passed, and the Queen is ill. Someone has murdered the royal family, only two remain; the Queen and a child of unknown identity and location. The throne dare remains empty for too long or the lands will be lost. Cynius knows of this and Eärenmôrthross will be his first target; knowing that if you take out the largest army, the rest will fall quickly.

As of 2942 AN, the queen is on her death bed, sick with sorrow after her kings passing, and Kaiya has been in captivity in Mordollwenfor quite some time now. After her reappearance in Skóglendi in the 2950s AN, the Dökkâlfur have been seen throughout Yara attacking villages. Rumors have been spreading that the "darkness comes".
