Mythos

Mythos is a side-dimension to the Planet Earth that contains the creatures of human myths. From the iconic myths of the Greek and Romans to the lesser-known ones of the Asian countries.   Spirits, gods, and many other mythological creatures call Mythos home. However, once upon a time these mythical beings lived side-by-side with humans. They are personifications of the myths dreamt up by humans and are powered by belief. When a society began believing in a new deity or creature, that being came into existence. As a society fell, so too did the myths who formed around them, as the myths wasted away from a lack of power. Once, a myth wasting away was rare, and an entire pantheon disappearing was nearly unheard of. They were immortal so long as they had belief.   Unfortunately, following the coming of Christianity and humanity's lessening belief in them, many pantheons disappeared entirely. Fearing their deaths, many of the remaining myths banded together to find a way to save themselves. Finding the side dimension attached to the Earth was a blessing, and so the myths began to migrate to the new dimension, which they named "Mythos". They hoped that with the time difference between the two places - one year passing in Mythos to every century on Earth - that the humans would feel their absence and begin to believe in them once more.   And so time passes, and the inhabitants of Mythos continue to seek a way to regain their power and belief.
