Sardonikon (Kolchis)

Grc: Σαρδωνικὸν, aka: Kolchis, En: Colchis

Not much detail is known of Sardonikon, due to its distance across the unpassable Black Sea. However, the wealth and power of that nation are said to be so great that word has travelled even to Hellas of a kingdom ruled by King Aietes, who claims descent from none other than the sky-Titan, Helios.   The capital and largest city is Aea [modern: Kutaisi] near the mouth of the river Phasis [modern: Rioni].   Sardonikon is also said to be the destination of the golden ram that carried Phrixus away from Orchomenus.   Located in the modern Republic of Georgia.
