Father of Podarces

Iphiclus, in his younger days, was a fleet-footed Argonaut who accompanied his brother on a mission to aid their nephew, Jason, in retrieving the golden fleece from Colchis. He later inherited the throne of Phylace from his father in the House of Phylacus. A story in the Library of Pseudo-Apollodorus has it that Iphiclus was cured of infertility by the Argive seer Melampus.

Family

Iphiclus is husband to Queen Diomedeia and father to Protesilaus and Podarces, both of whom would die in the Trojan War. Iphiclus is a brother to fellow-Argonaut Clymenus, and to Alcimede, the mother of Jason.
