Midsummers
Describe a traditional celebration for the summer solstice in a culture of your world
During the summer solstice all the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom come together to celebrate the arrival of the sun as well as the legacy of Snow White.
They wear traditional clothing, flower crowns and celebrate with berries and juice.
They dance and sing songs of the sun and Snow White.
A traditional dessert for the kingdom is Apple Crumble.
History
The tradition started when Snow White succeeded in defeating the Ruler of that era, the celebration was placed on the same day as the summer solstice becuase she brought away the cold of the terrible era and gave everyone a new warm era to live for. She was also crowned ruler of the nisse on the same day.
The traditions and stories are strongest in nisse towns becuase Snow White saved them directly. The ruler of the era, (dubbed the evil Queen) had been taking down forest that the nisse was living in to build her own towns and castles. This means that the nisse were most grateful of all the different species and their culture has been deeply effected by Snow White, where as other species/towns/cultures only celebrate her on the summer they would celebrate her all year round.
Execution
The day celebrates literal warmth and the feeling that is warm when you come together with others, as well as celebrating snow white and how grateful everyone is to her.
Components and tools
Snow White loved fruits especially apples so they were incoporated into the traditional foods in her honor.
Most wear their towns traditional clothing during the celebration, the royals of the towns often come together to hand out and create flower crowns to give to the citizens in honor of this day.
There are in total eight flowers on each crown, along with berries and different items that citizens normally add on. Each flower represents an important historical land and the eighth represents snow white and the sun.
Villiges are normally decorated with flowers and nature from head to toe.
Participants
Everyone who wants to participate can attend the celebration, it is more of a party than a ritual so it welcomes all sorts of people. It is also the day that royals pay their gratitude to the village and the working class, which is why they make and give gifts.
The royals also attend numerous contests to judge and see what the village has created that year.
Observance
Celebrations start on midsummer and continue to the end of the month.
