Wildbone

There are many legends which tell tales of heroes besting a fell beast, a powerful dragon, a horrifying demon, or other such creature and then crafting the body parts of said creature into a weapon or armor of great renown. Though much of it is myth there is some truth to it. Creatures of unusual magical prowess leave a mark on their now dead bodies, and by transforming the bones of the creature into items one can coax out some of the once great power they once had. Thus, wildbone is not actually a single substance but rather any bone or bone-like substance that was once part of a great monster. Traditionally they come from powerful magical beasts, but can be from any source, even the bones of powerful humanoids and other heroes.
With the properties of wildbone the creation of magical items becomes much easier and cheaper as you could either simply include some wildbone into the design of the item, or you could refine the wildbone into a dust that you could use to enchant any item.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Wildbone in nature is the fossilized bones of a creature, so it usually is comprised of the natural stone of the area, and it can rarely be still bones if you find it before they become fossilized.

Physical & Chemical Properties

These bones hold anywhere from a fraction to most of the magical potential of a powerful deceased creature. Wildbone is a fantastic enchanter when refined, and a great source of magic potential just as it is naturally.

Origin & Source

The remains of powerful magical beings and creatures.

History & Usage

Discovery

It was discovered at a dig site in 44 PS by a group of Arkádian archaeologists. Soon after this initial discovery there were hundreds of similar findings all across Laurencia and the continents beyond.

Everyday use

The common use of wildbone is to use the magics held in the bone to help create magic items, and or refine the fossilized bones to enchant with more potency.

Refinement

Wildbone when refined creates a fine sand-like dust that is a very useful component for the enchantment of magical items. It is not ground up, more deconstructed to smaller parts of the same whole

Manufacturing & Products

Magical Items, Refined Wildbone, Wildbone items.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

The issue with using unrefined wildbone is that it still may have some of the magical attributes of the deceased thusly giving the chance that, on some occasions, the wildbone often might imbue the item you are attempting to integrate the bone into with its own magic and not the magic you are trying to imbue it with.

Hazards

Wildbone refinement is not deadly as long as you know how to do it. Depending on the attributes of the deceased creature the wildbone could react violently to outside forces.

Reusability & Recycling

Wildbone is recycling friendly

Distribution

Trade & Market

Wildbone is quite the exotic compound material, and is only sold through very controlled markets due to its potential potency and its price per unit.
